F.E.A.R. is aptly named, judging from the reaction we've been seeing from readers who have seen the three-part E3 demonstration that we released earlier this week. In F.E.A.R., which stands for First Encounter Assault and Recon, you are a member of a top secret military unit whose job is to deal with the paranormal and supernatural. Announced at last month's E3, F.E.A.R. has quickly become one of the most promising games of 2005.

Take a look at the full version of the E3 F.E.A.R. demonstration. Double-click on the video window for a full-screen view.

In the demo, a military installation located in a high-rise building has been attacked, and all contact with those inside has been lost. It's your character's first day on the job, and you'll watch as he's delivered via helicopter to the roof of the tower. A gunfight erupts, and he fights his way into the facility. Along the way, he encounters strange phenomena, and the tension level builds as things definitely get creepier.

We're pleased to offer this full version of the demo. It consists of all three portions of the demos that we released earlier, but in one uninterrupted movie. Watch it for yourself (we suggest in a darkened room), and see why we feel that F.E.A.R. combines the intense first-person action of Half-Life with the chilling atmosphere of Japanese horror movies, such as The Ring. And make sure to check back with us, as we'll update you with the latest developments regarding F.E.A.R.
