Monolith Productions previously distinguished itself with fast-paced and atmospheric action games like Aliens Versus Predator 2 and the No One Lives Forever series. The developer is now rejoining publisher VU Games for its next project, the upcoming PC shooter F.E.A.R., which stands for "First Encounter Assault Recon." We're pleased to bring you an exclusive look at the impressive E3 demonstration for this exciting new game. You can watch the trailer as it streams in the window below, or you can check it out in our media section.

Take a look at part one of the E3 F.E.A.R. demonstration. Double-click on the video window for a full-screen view.

F.E.A.R. takes place in the near future and puts you in the role of an elite counterterrorist operative who is dispatched to investigate the brutal takeover of a crucial military compound by a mysterious paramilitary force. The site had already been assaulted by a team of commandos that was completely obliterated by some mysterious force inside the compound, and the team's radio signal had been jammed to such an extent that a scarce amount of recon info is available to you and your team. Your mission is to infiltrate the area, neutralize whatever threat lurks from within, and take back the compound. Unfortunately for you, you'll find that the compound is occupied by more than just soldiers.

This first clip shows an early sequence in the game in which you're dropped off on the roof of the compound to begin your journey into the building. Your character is equipped with heavy-duty assault gear and body armor, which perhaps explains why you can survive a few direct hits from enemy guns, though you also possess the ability to quickly close the distance on your enemies by performing a leaping kick attack that stuns them briefly. In the coming days, we'll have the rest of the three-part E3 demonstration for your viewing enjoyment. So please take a look at this impressive trailer, and come back tomorrow for part two.
