Far Cry Survey Seeks Ideas on Future Settings, From Vampires to Vietnam

Publisher Ubisoft appears to have issued a survey to some of its customers, asking them what they would like to see in future Far Cry games.

The questionnaire, brought to light by Eurogamer, offers a broad range of scenarios for fans to approve or dismiss. Ideas include "a Far Cry game where you can fight against or join vampires", as well as "a Mad Max-style post-apocalyptic world", and even "a Far Cry game set in the modern day on a Jurassic Park-style island with dinosaurs".

While the survey does not offer solid information on what approach Ubisoft Montreal will take for its next Far Cry game, it does suggest that those in charge of the franchise are keeping an open-mind on where the series could go.

Other possible scenarios in the survey include real-world settings such as Peru and Alaska, as well as moments in history such as the Vietnam War.

Work on Far Cry 4 commenced during the latter stages of the Far Cry 3 project--a common process of tandem game development that, if continued, means that a bulk of work on the next Far Cry project is already completed. That would suggest, though not confirm, that information from this survey would not apply to the next game in the series, but those beyond that.

Far Cry 4 shipped in November on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and last-gen consoles to generally positive critical reception. GameSpot's Far Cry 4 review suggested the open-world FPS "represents the good, the bad, and ugly of video games all at once."

"It's awesome and messy and dumb and fun and annoying and gross and beautiful," the review concluded.

we need more dinosaurs in our lives, FACT... TUROK style, FarCry is half way there, replace wild life with DINOS, and BOOM new game BUY BUY BUY. Or even a Carnivorous style game 'cant wait for Carnivorous Reborn on PC'.

I'd love for someone to make a vampire game that takes the best bits of all different versions and puts them in a game (VtM: Bloodlines is more than 10 years old!), but I dislike Uplay even more than EA's Origin and still feel like Steam is the only DRM/store worth having so I probably won't play anything they come up with. Oh well, back to the backlog of awesome games I guess.

<< LINK REMOVED >> Loved Bloodlines, they need to make a new one. Raiding the Tzimisce mansion and stumbling on the horror in the basement is my favorite video game moment as a kid.

I'm going with dinosaurs since the odds of us ever getting another good Turok game are slim to none.

I think the next Far cry should have a stronger focus on co-op. The co-op in FC4 was pretty disappointing. Heck, the co-op in FC3 was better. As for setting, I'd love to see something as outlandish as Far Cry: Blood Dragon. That was an awesome, fun little game, but if it were bigger, given better co-op, and a stronger (if even cheesier) story, then that would be great. I say, go all out with the imagination.

Been done to death but a post apocalypse setting on a alien planet that is vast and open world would be sweet. They can take the liberty to give it crazy and unique enemies and wild life while keeping the same formula of side missions and liberating camps. Give players a fully customizable protagonist (maybe upgradable bionics? ) and two or more unique customizable/ upgradable vehicles to traverse the world in.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> How about discovering the world yourself and opening the map that way? Towers don't even make sense, how would he suddenly see every single treasure, mission etc. in the area and some caves hidden in sea and so on. Maybe getting some clues, treasure maps and the likes that give hints to some interesting places that would actually be worth wile to discover instead of the same loot chest that contains some completely pointless items that serve no purpose in the game. Maybe give some signals through the world like some smoking ruins in the horizon, sounds in the distance you'd have to listen yourself, follow some strange tracks in the woods and when you get there something fun would happen instead of it being just another base you have to get through or small hut you find the millionth chest with ammo, little money and some leather wallet or condom. IMO the problem is not just the towers, it's the way the whole world is build, and whole load of boring and mundane side activities that're there just to fill the pointlessly large and empty world. World in many open world games should be smaller and instead filled with better side quests and interesting world to discover instead of it being just way to needlessly lengthen the game, some games do it well, many do not. When I played Far Cry 3 and little bit of 4 I just was never inclined to go out and search stuff by myself or go through the towers other than getting the guns, it was pointless because there wasn't anything to actually find. I enjoyed the gameplay and story in 3 and the hunting activities, but other than that there is so, so much pointless there

Ubisoft, you could put mecha dragons and cyborg bears all battling gundams in a post apocalyptic renaissance setting. You're still not getting my money until you change your recent trend towards becoming the new EA.

I enjoyed Far cry 3 and 4? it just worries me that Ubisoft are not exactly the best? i think the Far Cry series is probably the best Ubisoft collection so far? Just don't mess it up Ubisoft.

Aside from the technical issues, Far Cry 4 has been the most enjoyable game I've played recently. I'd be up for a new one, regardless of the theme it takes.
