Ubisoft has revealed what DLC content will be included in Far Cry 5's season pass, which is available as part of the game's Gold Edition or as an add-on across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. According to the publisher, the DLC is designed to "take players on three uncanny adventures with a unique Far Cry twist."

Hours of Darkness will see players travelling back through time to Vietnam, where they'll battle agains Viet Cong soldiers. Dead Living Zombies, meanwhile, will pit players against the zombie hordes in multiple scenarios that are inspired by B-movies. Finally, Lost on Mars will take players to Mars to go "toe-to-claws" with Martian arachnids.

Those who purchase the season pass will also get the single-player campaign from Far Cry 3. It will be available four weeks early to them, before becoming available to purchase as a standalone product in "Summer 2018."

Alongside the season pass details, a new story trailer for Far Cry 5 has been released, check it out above. Far Cry 5's release date has been confirmed as March 27 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. One of the big new additions is the ability to use dogs to distract enemies and pick up weapons for you. Other classic open-world gameplay opportunities such as flying planes are also available. So Far Cry 3 classic edition that comes with Far Cry 5 Gold Edition is I’ve scheduled it at May 22nd, four weeks before it’s official release date as a stand-alone game. Fat chance that date will be right. You know I love Ubisoft, they get to fork out £59.99 for this, and the extra content and game too, but then keep you guessing for the foreseeable as to when anything of the DLC and Far Cry 3 will be released. And what’s the betting when Far Cry 3 does finally get the nod to download, we’ll have to wait till November/December for the next DLC. Well played Ubisoft. Cunning I think maybe the right word

Good old Ubisoft. They make a game, chop it into 16 pieces, sell 1 piece as the "main game" and the other 15 as pre-made DLC, bleeding every last cent they can from you. Did you enjoy the experience? Who cares as long as you fork over the dough.

@DeviantCode: did you feel cheated with the last Far Cry games’ DLC? I didn’t. Heck, they’re even giving away another game with the DLC here.

Avatar image for DeviantCode

@superklyph: Far Cry 4? That was fairly forgettable, overall. It's nice that they're giving away the 6-year-old Far Cry 3, though - that was probably the best Far Cry so far.

Avatar image for superklyph

@DeviantCode: I thought 4 was bigger and better than 3 in every way and it didn't have the whiny protagonist.

Avatar image for DeviantCode
DeviantCode

@superklyph: It was bigger and had a little more variety, I'll grant that, though I thought 4's protagonist was equally meh. 4's antagonist was definitely more lame. The tiger stuff, the drug hallucinations arc, even the arena - I found all that stuff to be so retarded I wasn't even really that interested by the time stuff like the yeti came out.

4 also felt like so much more of the same old same old, especially after the really weak Primal. I'm hoping 5 finally makes some innovations to the formula.

I haven't been a fan of Ubi's work for awhile, but I have to say the Season Pass here is seemingly very pro-consumer. Very well done.

Hoping the Mars one has a Starship troopers feel to it. DLC looks even better than the main game. I'm excited now

better fix the various problems of origins itself. on pc there many legit customers who cant play since a mid december update (new and improved denuevo???...).

the technical support is a joke, i spent the 10 last days desinstalling / reinstalling the game, uplay, my drivers. with always the same result: it works very seldom after verifying all the files of the games, and i bought also the season pass on the uplay official shop. imagine my wrath 50 usd for the game plus 40 for the season pass, money for nothing, i dont even have a box to sell to another victim.

i planned to buy far cry 5 but i'm not sure i'll be very zen the day it will stop to work so i'll try to keep my love for video games intact with my brand new supernes mini, waiting both origins and FC 5 to be cracked.

Did they say if FC3 is gonna be a remastered version on the ps4? Or just a copy of the ps3 one, which was quite ugly compared to the pc version?

Avatar image for R4gn4r0k
R4gn4r0k

@Shinnok789: Well seeing as how they are giving it for free ... Will just be a simple port.

Think about it: if they spent time and money remastering it, would they give it for free ?

@R4gn4r0k: Those who purchase the season pass will also get the single-player campaign from Far Cry 3. It will be available four weeks early to them, before becoming available to purchase as a standalone product in "Summer 2018."

So it's not free but I do agree that it's unlikely they will commit the time/resources to a remaster FC3 when the priority is FC5 + DLC.

@pauls: Best case scenario: It's the PC version ported over.

@connorman01: What you talking about? Blood Dragon was amazing. Ubisoft actually have a track record with obscure, fun FC DLC.

Avatar image for connorman01
connorman01

@nomadski69: yes, Far Cry 3 was awesome. But how long ago was that? 2012?? every game since then by u-buy-soft has sucked. I mean far cry 4 and primal were straight up reskins of far cry 3

Avatar image for nomadski69
nomadski69

@connorman01: We are talking specifically about the season pass content here, which is why I replied to you. Whatever the base game is like, and i have a feeling it might actually be half decent, the DLC looks like it will be sweet, just as Blood Dragon was.

@connorman01: And? Ppl still loved it, and talk about it. How many games get remastered? Just bc something came out awhile ago, doesn't mean ppl still don't like stuff and want more like it.

So sick of having to pay extra to get full games....

Avatar image for muzza93
muzza93

@se7en1989: those DLCs really look like expansions. Completely unrelated to the main story and world. Purely extra add ons. You're stupid for complaining about this DLC. This type of DLC needs to be encouraged.

Avatar image for metsuri

@se7en1989:

Hmm because somehow zombies in various movie inspired facilities, Mars, and Viet Cong all tie into Montana religious cults... Its basically 3 minigames and not part of the game at all. Now it would be a different story if the base game were the length of something like Ground Zeroes, then I could see complaining.

I had no issue paying for Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine for Witcher 3 because the base game was incredibly long and complete.

Avatar image for tiringpillow
TiringPillow

@se7en1989: You're not. You're paying extra for extra content. Your $60 gets you Far Cry 5 (a full game). The extra money you spend gets you extra content. See how that works?

Avatar image for m_nay2008
m_nay2008

@tiringpillow: Put in mind that a lot of people, including me, believe that when game companies wanted to raise the price of AAA games, they figured out that doing so would make gamers angry as if 60$ wasn't high enough. And so they decided to cut some part of the game and sell it as a DLC and hence the actual price of the full game goes from 60$ to 90$ or 100$. It may be just a theory but as I said, a lot of people believe that.

Avatar image for muzza93
muzza93

@m_nay2008: this DLC is not cut from the main game. These are purely expansions. Nothing to complain about here, actually it should be encouraged.

Avatar image for m_nay2008

@muzza93: Maybe you're right this time but that is not applicable to most games

But dlcs for far cry 5 look great 😊

Avatar image for inebriantia

@playstationzone: Physical copies still have to be installed on your hard drive and takes up just as much space. So that makes no sense..

Avatar image for PSYCHOV3N0M

@inebriantia: It makes sense to want a physical disc because you can install it in less than 1min on PS4 instead of having to download the entire game again. The only "downside" is that for physical you'll also have to redownload the latest game update as well.

@m4a5: I wish Blood Dragon was re-released. I played it before I ever played FC3, and it was just so weird and strange. I know I finished the main story but there was a bunch of things I didn't touch because I didn't understand the controls or mechanics of the game at the time.
