Bethesda has a surprise for fans of Fallout 76: the Steel Dawn expansion--originally scheduled to release on December 1--is now going to go live tonight. You can jump into the new content following a maintenance period that is scheduled to end around 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET.

In a blog post, Bethesda admitted that the update for Steel Dawn has accidentally already gone live on Xbox One, allowing players to download but not yet play the new expansion. Rather than try and pull the update back, Bethesda decided that since Steel Dawn is technically good-to-go, that it made more sense to just push the update live for all platforms a week early.

Now Playing: Giving Fallout 76 Another Shot

Steel Dawn sees you interact with the Brotherhood of Steel--allowing you to either work with or against the group. Your point of contact for the expansion is Paladin Leila Rahmani, who has decided to transfer her troops from California to gain a foothold in Appalachia. Regardless of your choices, you'll be able to unlock some brand-new Brotherhood of Steel weapons and armor.

Fallout 76 is available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game is also included in the library of Xbox Game Pass titles.
