Fallout 4's Massive Far Harbor Expansion Gets Release Date, New Trailer

Not much longer to wait.

Fallout 4's Far Harbor expansion, the game's third add-on, will launch across the world on May 19 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, Bethesda announced today. A new trailer has also been released.

The expansion is set in a post-apocalyptic version of Maine's popular tourist destination, Bar Harbor. The location represents the largest landmass Bethesda has ever made for expansion content.

Here is the official story synopsis:

"In Far Harbor, a new case from Valentine’s Detective Agency leads you on a search for a young woman and a secret colony of synths. Travel off the coast of Maine to the mysterious island of Far Harbor, where higher levels of radiation have created a more feral world. Navigate through the growing conflict between the synths, the Children of Atom, and the local townspeople. Will you work towards bringing peace to Far Harbor, and at what cost?"

Far Harbor includes more quests to take on and settlements to explore. There are also "lethal" creatures, some of which you can see in the trailer above. The expansion also adds "higher-level" armor and weapons, though no specifics have been announced yet.

The content sells for $25 and is also included with the $50 Fallout 4 DLC pass. The first Fallout 4 expansion was Automatron, which came out in March. This was followed up by Wasteland Workshop in April.

Bethesda also teased that Fallout 4 fans should "stay tuned" for more information about more add-ons coming later this year. If you bought the Fallout 4 DLC pass, you will also receive those expansions, whatever they turn out to be. One possible venue for their announcement could be Bethesda's E3 briefing in June, though this is not confirmed.

On the more immediate horizon, the console versions of Fallout 4 are getting PC-made mods soon, starting on Xbox One in May with a release for PS4 to come in June.

Last night I started playing Fallout 4 again after putting it down for almost 3 months. I won't buy this DLC though.

@urbanman2004: Oh my god they FORCED me to buy this. That's how evil they are. I had no choice. They took the money directly out of my checking account without asking first. Those evil greedy thieves! I didn't want to buy it but they forced me!

The truth is that it sounds like it might be a good addition for anyone who already is enjoying the game. It may or may not be, and we won't know until it's released. And maybe it will be worth the money, even. Or maybe not. But no one is forcing anyone to buy anything. The truth is that people worked hard to create this game, and they are working hard to create more content. And they aren't doing it for free. If you think you could do something as good or better for free PUT YOUR MONEY WHERE YOUR MOUTH IS or at least be sensible enough to wait until there's enough information out there to judge it. This could be the best DLC ever, or it could be a piece of crap. But how would you know without actually playing it?

@urbanman2004: Surely you watched the video, this didn't look like a pong quality piece of DLC. Some of us picked up the season pass for dirt cheap anyways so we might as well enjoy it. :D

@doozie78: If u paid attention to my comment then u would've noticed that I was making an example out of @muzza93 a/b how low his standards are and that he'd be willing to buy anything that Beth releases even if the quality was archaic and rudimentary as 'pong'.

@Mogan: Huh, are u serious? When a publisher initially charges u $30 for a season pass and then turns around and tells u they're going to charge u $50 instead after a certain date b/c they included more DLC content then they originally intended and then make the excuse that the increased amount of DLC content justifies the price hike, what would call that? Smfh

I call that they decided to make more DLC than originally intended so raised the price

IF they were actually greedy they would of made a second season pass and everyone who already had a season pass would have to buy the next one after far harbour

@urbanman2004: The season pass got larger so the price went up. I don't see what the problem is, since you don't need to buy the season pass to get the DLC in the first place. If there was anything weird about Fallout 4's season pass it was that it went on sale while Bethesda was still saying they didn't even really know what they were going to do for DLC.

As interested as I am in Far Harbor, I'm more interested in seeing just how much more they add to the season pass, since they're not really obligated to release more.

@SkytheWiz1: I think we'll see another 2 DLC's incoming for Fallout 4, which will make 5 content drops. We'll find out at E3 I guess. Then there is mods on all platforms, you don't get better value for your initial purchase than that.

Finally. I was getting aggravated at Automatron and Wasteland Workshop for being DLC hardly worth the name. The caliber of Witcher 3's H&S.

@aegis_kleais: I actually enjoyed them, I love making robots, I enjoyed the questline, and the Workshop dlc, added some much needed variety for my settlements, I love concrete and neon lights, having arena battles are also very entertaining. Plus, with mods coming, it gave them a chance to make a few extra bucks off ppl who hadnt bought the SP yet, which Bethsda is one of the few companies I dont mind giving some xtra money too.

I'm looking forward to it, now that the PC Creation Kit was just released, the mods will start pouring in. I do wonder how mods will be handled on the consoles. I'm betting it will be heavily restricted so no mods of other IP's, espeically from Nintendo for example....Since both the One and PS4 don't allow for 3rd party programs (Script Extender), then you won't see all the great mods that need that vital extension to function. You can forget about texture and other graphics improving mods since the hardware is weak already (Unless the NEO and 1.5 are more powerful) and I wonder how Load Order will be addressed too since you need a 3rd party program for that on the PC. Then I'm betting that infamous nude based mods won't make it because of obvious reasons...... I may be wrong, so we'll see how they are handled. Still, adding limited mod support will give console gamers a taste of what PC gamers love so much about Bethesda games in general. I look forward to all sorts of cool mods.

@Spartan363: Yeah, I'm guessing it will be a more mainstream casual version of mods, but it should allow for some neat stuff still, especially for settlement building, which is what I'm looking forward too. While I have a gaming PC, its been neglected for over a year now that I have a baby, with work, and the wife, I dont have the time to really give the focus to keep up to date anymore, and messing with drivers, settings, all that good stuff. I mainly pop a game in my PS4 in the bedroom after everyone's asleep, so still being able to get a taste of mods is very nice.

Wondering if I should hold off on building my personal castle until I see what the settlements look like in Far Harbor. I've got about 20,000 steel and concrete just waiting to be used.
