Fallout 4 Release Date Expected to Land in 2015

Multiple retailers suggest Bethesda's RPG will launch this year.

Multiple retailers have suggested that Fallout 4, the long-awaited open-world RPG from Bethesda, will be available in 2015.

Although its publisher Bethesda Softworks has not yet officially confirmed a release date or release window, it has provided a strong indication for a 2015 release.

Bethesda's own online store initially listed the Fallout 4 release date as "TBA 2015." This was later changed to "TBA."

Currently, both Amazon and GameStop have the game listed for December 31, most likely as placeholder dates, but nonetheless set in 2015.

Another listing comes from Australia retailer EB Games, which sent out promotional material following the announcement. The image, which was posted online by a NeoGAF user, states that Fallout 4 is "coming 2015."

UK retailer Game has also listed a 2015 Fallout 4 release date.

Bethesda left about a year between the first announcement and final release of both The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 3. However, Fallout New Vegas, the last Fallout game to be released, was available just seven months after its debut announcement.

Bethesda's other upcoming projects include the Doom reboot, which will be fully unveiled at E3 2015 and free-to-play multiplayer shooter Battlecry. However, both these games do not yet have release dates.

Reports on Fallout 4's development have been circulating as far back as December 2014, when information about the game's setting and missions leaked. This suggests that the project may be in an advanced stage of development.

In April 2013 Bethesda confirmed its Skyrim development team, believed to also be the devs behind Fallout 3, had fully moved on to its next project, as it had reached the point where it required the studio's full attention.

Fallout 4 was officially revealed on Wednesday for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. The leaked Boston setting was confirmed in the debut trailer, which you can watch here.

So, im kind of sceptical on all of this. Its really uncommon for games like these to release in such a short period of time.

BUT! Bethesda is one of those companies that stands out from the rest on quite a few areas, including launch dates.

Rockstar is a complete dick to people, whereas Bethesda picks a release date, and releases the game then, with only a few minor bugs, or barely any at all.

I keep hearing and reading that it might get pushed back to summer 2016.

But just you wait.

Because when october 23rd hits, well, Bethesda?... :3

Even if it's scheduled for a late 2015 release, it'll probably get pushed to early summer of 2016.

@oldtobie: I dont remember Skyrim being pushed back - If memory serves, they made the trailer with the release date 11.11.11 and released on that day.

Bull. Games almost never get released in a year they are "teased". Expect this sometime within two years likely during a summer so they can avoid the november matchups against call of duty / battlefield.

@Random_Virus: I'm sorry but I'm gonna have to disagree with you; Chaotic Knuckles is right! There's a chance this could be released this year. The first New Vegas trailer was released February 2010, with a second one June 2010. The game was released that year.

I also doubt the release date will be in the summer. Honestly, I'd be surprised if it wasn't in October. I think Skyrim's November release was just random, Oblivion was released in March, and Morrowind was released in May. But, FO3 and FNV were both released in October. The great war in the game happened on October 23.

Still, I think there's a chance you're right about "within the next two years." I don't think we can say for certain that we'll be seeing this game this year. FO3's website went public in May 2007. The first trailer came out June 5 2007. The game was released in October of the next year, 2008. With FO4's trailer coming out last week (I forget, was it June 3rd or 4th that it went public?), the release of information about this new installment seems to be following the same pattern as FO3.

@1speedbike: new Vegas was teased in April 2009. Then a release date was set and pushed back about 6 months, the game released 1 year and 6 months after the teaser. LIKE ALL BETHESDA TITLES

@Random_Virus: The article just said that New Vegas got a release 7 months after its reveal. So there is a precedent here. We'll see what happens. I honestly don't think they're worried about competing with Call of Duty as they don't target the same audience at all. They released Skyrim in November as well, I don't think they really care what Call of Duty or Battlefield is doing.

@ChaoticKnuckles: new Vegas was announced in April 2009, do you not remember this? Am I the only one who played games when this happened

Can't remember the site, but one that has leaked release dates in the past had Fallout 4 on there for October 23 on 2015.

This tade makes sense too because it's the actuall date of the great war in the game.

No matter when it comes out, everybody will complain about the bugs and say it was rushed.

Fallout new Vegas was announced in April 2009 and released in October 2010, one year and six months later. It's original release was scheduled for March 2010 and was pushed back when it got close to march. Bethesda has never announced and released a game in a matter of months, keep dreaming

Avatar image for Paoksis

@planb333: New vegas wasnt developed by Bethesda,it was only published...

Also Bethesda always had a 3 year space between their releases: Morrowind(2002),Oblivion(2005),Fallout 3 (2008),Skyrim(2011) and with Falllout 4 they are already one year late in comparison with their other releases,so Fallout 4 is almost certainly gonna be announced for this year's Fall

@Paoksis: its never happened. Bethesda has never released a game in months after the first announcement of its existence. i want it too, but its not going to be anytime soon my friend. if I'm wrong and it releases in 2015 ill buy you the game.

Avatar image for Paoksis

@planb333: Well since 5 years of developement for a single title is too much,i think the game is going to be released untill end of 2015,so thanks for the game in advance :P

Avatar image for planb333
Planb333

@Paoksis: ok ok. But think of this, Bethesda had no chance to put 100% into FO4 until Skyrim was off and running with all the updates and DLCs in line. Im thinking FO4 wasn't all hands on deck until sometime late 2012, which would be about 2-1/2 years of 100% FO4 focus. October 2016 is about as far as they could push the envelope and knowing Bethesda…they will

Avatar image for Paoksis

@planb333:

Valid points, but with the same logic they couldn't fully commit to Skyrim untill 2009 due to Fallout 3 DLCs. So they actually fully commited 2 years on Skyrim which turned out to be one of the greatest RPGs ever created.I believe based on that fact, they can create a worthy or even better sequel for Fallout 3 within 3 years of full developement(one more actual year than the critically acclaimed Skyrim),so my argument for a 2015 release is even more valid if you think of it ;)

If it does drop this holiday season, I can't think of anything else upcoming that could challenge it for my wallet around then...except maybe Star Wars: Battlefront, and maybe Mad Max: Fury Road.

Will not make a 2015 release window as sure as the sun rises and sets.

If it does, I will eat my digital words while smiling and playing this game.

Remembering Skyrim released on 11-11-11 and considering the fact it is the year 2015, I am guessing 05-10-2015, or 10-05-2015 for NA :P

It will be exactly how Bethesda will rule E3.

@Gravity_Slave: Okay, I'll just sit back and not care or have opinions.

Don't act like Bethesda doesn't do short turn-arounds. Because they do. They aren't going to do a Bioshock Infinite on us. If you pay attention to gaming at all (and I know you do), then you get that reference.

Avatar image for nazgoroth

@PixelAddict: They did the same thing with skyrim, announce it shortly before the E3, release second week of November (11-11-11 for skyrim in fact)

I'm hopefull, though i'll need to start saving right now for a pc that'll run it maxed out.

Avatar image for ermacos

@PixelAddict: Maybe that explains why beth will hold their own conference @E3 this year.

Avatar image for PixelAddict
PixelAddict

@ermacos: Absolutely. Back in Feb, when chatter started about Beth's E3 presser, I was saying just this. You do not throw a party unless you have something to celebrate.

They should start the presser with a massive "Oct 13 2015" on the screen, then show a one minute of game play footage. Then end the presser.

2 minutes total. Wins E3 anyways.
