Fallout 4 Player Accidentally Falls in Sea, Finds Mysterious Structure

Beneath the surface, a secret awaits.

The Boston wasteland depicted in Bethesda's Fallout 4 is garnished with many secrets. Finding these crafted and concealed golden nuggets are a satisfying reward for the more adventurous wasteland wanderers. More exciting, however, is the moment when you stumble upon something that the game's creators may not have intended would be discovered.

That's just what happened to one Fallout 4 player who, while clearing out a raider camp, fell into the vast sea. Instead of running for shore, this player decided to explore. Equipped with the Power Suit and Mirelurk Cakes, which let you breath under water, this person went on an expedition.

The reward was, initially, a look at some of the vibrant underwater flora that escaped being ravaged by the nuclear apocalypse. But eventually, a mysterious underwater structure was revealed.

The building in question, a large bronze structure that seems to be some sort of pumping or water filtration structure, has a working light, but cannot be entered. It kind of makes you wonder what this place is. Did Bethesda put it in just for fun? Why in this specific point instead of anywhere else? Could this be a hint at some future underwater content? Maybe it was something that Bethesda was working on, but abandoned. Will we ever find out?

The plot thickens if you think back to November, when someone found an unused harpoon gun. When fired, a bubble animation comes off the weapon and the enemy, suggesting Bethesda might have been working on an underwater sequence in Fallout 4.

Fallout 4 launched on November 10 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Bethesda shipped 12 million physical copies of the game to retailers for launch day, though it's unclear how many were actually sold through to consumers. Research group SuperData has said the game sold 1.8 million copies across digital channels in its first three days. Whatever the case, the game is clearly off to a strong start.

Don't you just love conspiracy theories. They are secrets to discover. Nothing more. Do you honestly think a dev would spend money creating content never intended to be seen, and why would they make a perk to allow you to breath under water if they did not want you to go there. Use your brain people.

I found power armor under a lake, another mirelurk queen in a river, and countless trunks of sunken treasure that contained stimpaks, weapons, and ammo.

@kappamerc: The best part about fallout/skyrim/bethesda's creation engine is the 'hand-crafted' aspect of it. Nothing is randomized (locationally but loot is), everything is placed, thought about and given the 'lived in' feel that makes it's world so immersive.

hey look, I found weired stuff in Fallout 4:

this teddy is taking selfies ... in some hidden dark corner of a room: http://i.imgur.com/ijvs2VI.jpg

this, I dont know, a Minions reference ??? : http://i.imgur.com/aik4bU9.jpg

and yes, its pedo.bear, I assume : http://i.imgur.com/8CDZ1zy.jpg

all these Arrangements must have been created by leveldesigners, items cant be placed like that by the player, in somecases like the wheelchair for example, its even normal objects scaled down to fit in these humorous dioramas

"Why in this specific point instead of anywhere else?"

I would think that point also qualifies as "anywhere else"!

I found that a couple days ago but thought it is to un interesting to make a big buzz on the Internet about it ... but hey, I also dont have to buy my Food from the Money I make on the Internet ^^

its defenetly a designed underwater area, wich some nice sights but no Special structures ... but I noticed that some underwater plants even have animations when u walk through them

normaly u cant see anything in water in Fallout 4, only if u wander really wide/deep into the open sea the dark filter disappears at some point and only the blurry vision is left

It isn't really mysterious. The water treatment facility is in that area, as well as several water observational buildings. Those pipes lead to all of them. The pipe line is also in the strategy guide. There is nothing special about them except for the fact one of the valves can be opened and there is a container inside with random loot. I've been exploring the seabed for 2 weeks and have found pretty much all there is to see down there. Most of the sunken ships don't even have anything inside them, which leads me to believe at one point they meant to have the seabed a bigger part of the game, but either scrapped it because they ran out of time or they couldn't get it to work right. From the fact that you can't use any weapons under water, and the terrible collision against objects down there, I'm thinking a bit of both.

Maybe some kind of scene either now in game or future dlc will make the water withdraw from that area, making it possible to access.

I literally just posted about this on the Fallout 4 forums yesterday. That's awesome other people are finding this stuff! That pipe leads to the Nahant biology something something. But there's a blue one that leads somewhere else. I know, vague. But that's all I've got right now...

It makes sense now: Big daddies were actually guys in more advanced power armor; and Andrew Ryan worked for vault-tec and created Rapture to survive the apocalypse

Came across this area a while back while using the aquaboy perk. Found it since the structure has lights on it. Really noting special. Found plenty of ship freight as well but no loot.

With a game this big, I imagine there's a bunch of locations, buildings, and content at various stages of completion that just couldn't get packed into the game. It'd be cool if whatever this building was get's picked up and fleshed out into some kind of Terror From the Deep underwater expansion.
