Fallout 3 & Oblivion double pack drops April 3

Bethesda bundling its 2006 and 2008 role-playing game hits on Xbox 360 and PC in North America for $30 and $20, respectively; PS3 version blocked.

Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV are set in vastly different worlds, but soon they will come together. Bethesda today announced the Fallout 3 & Oblivion Double Pack, due out in April for the Xbox 360 and PC.

Bethesda doubles down on RPG memories this April.
Bethesda doubles down on RPG memories this April.

Set for release in North America on April 3, the Xbox 360 version of the Fallout 3 & Oblivion Double Pack will retail for $30, while the PC iteration will set gamers back $20. Bethesda did not note if the bundled games include any of the downloadable content released for either game.

Though Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shipped for the PlayStation 3, Bethesda did not mention plans to bring the double pack to that system. A statement from Bethesda provided to GameSpot says, "At present we are not being allowed to release it on PS3. We will continue to try to change that, and would release it if we are permitted."

"We want to release it for PS3," reads a follow-up statement sent to GameSpot.

As for the games in the pack, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion shipped in 2006, with Fallout 3 arriving in 2008. Each game won a strong critical reception upon release and later spawned Game of the Year editions. For more on the titles included in the double pack, check out GameSpot's reviews of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Well Bethesda is surely a company made of WIN. Oblivion 5th year anniversary edition + Fallout 3 GOTY = 28€. This pack contains both core games without DLCs or expansions and it costs 8€ less. Way to go bethesda, grabbing money out of gamers. Sorry but I'll pass, having to pay a little more for FULL games.

@crmorosko It would be like the Resistance Double Pack. They are not rereleasing the game. They just take old copies and bundle them with another game. There wouldn't be any trophies.

@Cronicx- so if you found a 5 or 6 years old movie and it's so good, do you pass on it or you just watch it and enjoy? anyone who did not play any of those two games will still enjoy very much you can lose 500 hours in both game

Honestly if you catch these during a Steam sale you could easily get them for about $15 total on PC. Or if you'd be willing to wait until the next christmas sale when there's another 80% price cut to Bethesda games it would be about $8 total. $30 vs. $8, your choice.

At the local EB games near me they are selling TESIV: Oblivion for about 20 dollars, the 5th year edition for about 5 dollars more and the GOTY for about the same price and the same for Fallout 3 regular and GOTY for 14-20 give or take a couple bucks.

If they do release Oblivion again for the PS3... I want some trophies! I don't think that is much to ask considering how much they have made.

And yet the download version of the Shivering Isles expansion is still $30 in the Xbox Marketplace. It's the only thing I don't own for Oblivion. It should be about ten bucks these days.

@SolidWooper They may not work on your machine but they run great on my win7 x64 machine. With nearly 100 mods and 70 hours in Fallout 3 has crashed twice. Oblivion performs only slightly worse with a crash every 20 hours on average.

I think the only people who don't have these games fall into two groups: Those who don't like RPG's and those who already bought, wore out and resold them.

Do they mention if they are going to fix Fallout 3's incompatibility with Windows 7? because I wasted my money when I bought the GOTY edition only to find out it would freeze invariably every 5 minutes of gameplay and they have not released a patch to fix it as of yet.

@Darnasian Same. I like Trophies, And I got kinda sad at the lack of it in MGS4, despite the in-game achievements, not that it would be a deal breaker, but it's a personal hobby, and it adds replay value. On PC though, I don't give two s***ts. I just play for fun.

Struggling to see the point of this. Surely everyone who wants either of these games already has them both? Also I'm pretty sure it'd be cheaper to buy them both separately.

@shadowhunter0 Actually, starting in 2009, Sony starting requiring PS3 games to have Trophy support before being submitted and accepted for certification. Well according to Wikipedia anyways. << LINK REMOVED >>

btw trophies aren't mandatory unlike M$ Sony doesn't force devs to add stuff like that if they are going to add in trophies its because they want to and not because they are forced

@System4Ever wrong I own both of those games and I have put over 200 hours in fallout and even allot time in oblivion and they play perfectly fine on the ps3 and yes it does suck that this bundle isn't coming to the ps3 right away mostly likely M$ paid millions to get this timed exclusive

@Setsuka13 Or if you already have all the dlc and just want the main game copy, you could just download it cheap and unbroken on demand for consoles, or on steam.

@zzamaro instead of complaining about the game then complaining that you'll get thumbs down, either don't be a troll and comment db stuff you already know will get thumbs-downed, because you know that fallout and tes fans are die hard, or at least try to give an explanation... Elaborate. Why did the game not catch your attention, why did you not enjoy it and why did it push you to complain on a thread of fans whom you already knew were going to roast you with thumbs down?

Yeah you can get Fallout 3 GOTY (with all DLC) for about $20 and same for Oblivion for even less. If this doesn't have DLC, it's not a smart buy.

If this has the dlc i will buy it, i have played both of these games a bit with friends but never bought them, so for me this would be a good catch up and a decent deal. @Tidal_Abyss It would be great if they remade them sometime with the new engine.

I hope this means more people are able to play Fallout 3 that game was great. I don't know if I could take a step back from skyrim though.
