Sega today announced the release of Sega Superstars, a collection of PlayStation 2 games for use with the EyeToy camera peripheral. Developed by Sonic Team, the title features 12 games based on classic Sega franchises, all of which require players to step in front of the camera and wave their arms around in lieu of using a standard controller.

Players will be able to flag down cabs in Crazy Taxi; guide Sonic the Hedgehog as he races down a light-speed tube collecting rings; go one-on-one with Akira in Virtua Fighter; or play some maraca-less rounds of Samba De Amigo while shaking it to "Livin' La Vida Loca" and other songs. Other games are based on House of the Dead, Super Monkey Ball, Space Channel 5, Chu Chu Rocket, Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, Virtua Striker, Puyo Pop Fever, and Nights.

Sega Superstars is rated "T" for Teen and carries an MSRP of $29.99. The EyeToy camera peripheral, which is not included, is required for play. For more information, check out GameSpot's recent hands-on.
