Sony Computer Entertainment America announced today that EyeToy: Groove will be released in North America in spring of this year. Already available in Europe, Groove is the second game to be released for the EyeToy camera accessory on the PlayStation 2. Similar to other rhythm games, like Dance Dance Revolution, Groove allows players to "shimmy and shake their groove thangs" in tune to hit pop songs. Only the EyeToy camera is needed to play the game; no special dance pads or controllers are required. Special features include video messaging, various multiplayer modes, and a calorie counter.

28 licensed songs will be in the North American version of game, including "A Little Less Conversation" by Elvis Presley, "Praise You" by Fatboy Slim, and "YMCA" by the Village People. Songs from Madonna and Jessica Simpson are also confirmed to be in the game. GameSpot News previously published a full list of the 25 songs included in the European edition of EyeToy: Groove.

Two different packages of EyeToy: Groove will be available--a $49.99 bundle that includes the game and the EyeToy camera and a $29.99 product that includes the software only.
