Extreme Rules Results: Rey Mysterio Loses An Eye At The 2020 WWE PPV
Find out who loses an eye and more as we tell you the winners and losers of the event as it happens.
WWE's PPV Extreme Rules has come to a close. While the focus for many people may be Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio, where someone got their eye ripped from the socket, the show closed out with a cinematic experience. Braun Strowman battled Bray Wyatt in a swamp, and it was a delight. Extreme Rules, dubbed "The Horror Show," had a few surprises and you can check out the final results below.
Pop open a Mountain Dew and do a kickflip over a guard rail because it's Extreme Rules. Unlike what was considered "extreme" during the '00s, this event featured some crazy stipulations, seeing competitors hit each other with weapons, and more. This year's event was been branded "the Horror Show," so fans expected the unexpected.
The PPV took place at WWE's Performance Center in Florida, as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the company to stop performing in arenas in front of thousands of fans. Depending on where you live in the world, this show will aired at a reasonable hour or super-early in the morning. Check out the start times below.
If you're looking to rewatch the event, you'll have to sign up for the WWE Network. The streaming service allows users to watch old episodes of Raw, Smackdown, and more--including PPVs. Additionally, you can stream PPVs live, and it's honestly the best way to watch them as you're paying $10 a month compared to $35 and upward per PPV.
The match card was interesting, to say the least. Either Rey Mysterio or Seth Rollins will lose an eye in the Eye for an Eye Match. Braun Strowman will take on Bray Wyatt--not the Fiend--in a swamp battle near the Wyatt compound. Additionally, there are numerous title matches happening during the evening. Check out the match card below.
- Kevin Owens vs. Murphy (Kickoff Show)
- New Day vs. Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura - Tables Match for Smackdown Tag Team Championship
- Apollo Crews (c) vs. MVP - United States Championship
- Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins – Eye for an Eye Match
- Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross - Smackdown Women's Championship
- Asuka (c) vs. Sasha Banks - Raw Women's Championship
- Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler - WWE Championship
- Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt – Wyatt Swamp Fight

Kevin Owens vs. Murphy (Kickoff Show)
Per usual, if you put Murphy on the Kickoff Show, you're going to get a great match, and putting him in the ring with Owens was a great move. It set a great tone for the rest of the PPV.
Owens wins by pin at 8:53.
New Day vs. Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura - Tables Match for Smackdown Tag Team Championship
The fans picked the stipulation for this match, and it's a great choice. Kofi got slammed through two tables outside of the ring, which was exceptionally satisfying. It was a great-looking finish. Plus, now we have new tag team champions with Cesaro and Nakamura. Let's hope this feud makes its way to Summerslam.
Kofi goes through a table at 10:20.
Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross - Smackdown Women's Championship
Each competitor had their ally on the outside of the ring. Solid match with a predictable finish.
Bayley pins Cross at 12:21.
Apollo Crews vs. MVP
Apparently, Apollo Crews will not be defending his United States Championship now, as he has not been cleared by doctors. MVP is comes to the ring with Bobby Lashley, and MVP declares himself the US Championship due to forfeit.
Rey Mysterio vs. Seth Rollins – Eye for an Eye Match
A truly bizarre match which focused heavily on two men trying to remove the other man's eye with plumbing tools. In the end, Rollins removed Mysterio's eye by bashing his face into the stairs. After seeing the removed eye for himself, Rollins puked everywhere, and the camera focused on him for far too long. This was very dumb.
Rollins wins at 17:47.
Asuka (c) vs. Sasha Banks - Raw Women's Championship
A very weird finish where Asuka accidentally spit the green mist at the ref, then Banks hit Asuka with the belt, pinned Asuka, and Bayley played the part of the ref. So, Banks wins, I guess? It was a really wobbly finish that made no sense.
Banks wins at 20:14.
Drew McIntyre vs. Dolph Ziggler - WWE Championship
Ziggler announces the stipulation will be Extreme Rules, but just for Ziggler. Also, champions advantage does not exist for McIntyre. It added a ton of drama to the match, and gave Ziggler a huge advantage. However, that wasn't enough, as McIntyre came out on top.
McIntyre wins by pin at 15:24.
Braun Strowman vs. Bray Wyatt – Wyatt Swamp Fight
Obviously, this is another cinematic match. And thus far, they've all been wildly entertaining, since WWE had to shift gears because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This was a bit more of a brawl than anything else, with Wyatt coming off more like a Jason Voorhees-like character. It was wildly entertaining. It ended with Braun being pulled into the swamp, and then Wyatt went in. The Fiend then came out at the end.
