Expect A Huge Update For Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare And Warzone Season 4

The new season will bring a bunch of new content and take up more storage.

If you're a fan of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare or Warzone then you're familiar with the games' gigantic update sizes that usually take hours to download. Season 4, which starts tonight at 11 PM PT / June 11 at 2 AM ET, will require another big download to fit all the new content coming to both games.

"The Season 4 download is going to be large. In order to reduce the overall disc space that MW and WZ take up, we're compressing a bunch of assets," said Infinity Ward senior communication manger Ashton Williams in a tweet. "Once installed, the S4 launch will only take up an additional 4GB on consoles for all of the new content."

Modern Warfare on PC currently takes about just over 180GB of hard-drive space, while ringing in at just over 185GB on PS4 and Xbox One. The size is fairly ridiculous. Infinity Ward has said the file size is large due to the high amount of content Warzone contains.

Leaks have revealed potential sizes for the upcoming updates, with numbers ranging from 34 GB to almost 50 GB depending on what platform the game is running on. Williams added that Infinity Ward hopes to make reductions where the company can, also adding that players should uninstall content packs for modes they aren't playing if they want to free up a bit of space.

"We're continuing to sweep all assets to make size reductions where we can, and also further optimize future patches for size," Williams added. "If helpful, one reminder for console players, you can uninstall the content packs for modes that you're not playing if you want to free up space."
