TalonSoft sends us some new screenshots from its upcoming real-time naval combat strategy game.

TalonSoft sent us a group of exclusive new screenshots from Age of Sail II, its upcoming sequel to the award-winning 1996 naval combat game, Age of Sail. The game is being developed by Russian studio Akella, which created the recently released pirate role-playing game Sea Dogs. Age of Sail II includes a realistic real-time 3D sailing model and more than 1,200 historical warships from the period between 1775 and 1820. Players can take part in more than 100 scenarios based on a wide variety of historical naval battles such as the Battle of the Nile and the destruction of the Spanish Armada. Highly detailed 3D tall ships from 11 different nations are included in the game. In addition to the single-player mode, where players advance through the ranks from ensign to admiral, Age of Sail II features complete multiplayer support for up to 16 players.

To find out more about the game, read our in-depth Age of Sail II preview. Age of Sail II is scheduled for release in late January 2001.
