Every PS5 Game Confirmed (And Expected) So Far

Sony's next-generation console is launching this year, here's all the PlayStation 5 games you can play.

It's always exciting every time a new console generation comes around, and this time is no different. This year marks the release of both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and despite the ongoing pandemic disrupting workflow, the two systems are still set for release during the holiday season of 2020. That means there will also need to be a lineup of new games, as some of Sony's major upcoming games are still coming to the PS4 and could skip the PS5, at least at launch, and it's unclear if they're getting PS5 upgrades at all. Sony said in May that it plans to announce the launch lineup for PS5 "soon." Currently, it's still unclear which games will launch alongside Sony's next-generation console this holiday. However, we do know how the console will look. There will actually be two consoles that differ only in whether or not they include a disc drive. You should be able to play the exact same software on both--but any PS4 discs you have won't work on the all-digital version.

As a whole, Sony's PS5 features some exciting new technology, including an SSD that dramatically improves load times, among other elements that promise to improve the fidelity of games. There is also a new DualSense controller that uses haptic feedback to help connect you with games at a deeper level. It's all very exciting, and some of the technology is even beyond what high-end PC systems can do. The technology is being backed up with impressive software, including Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5. This new engine was demonstrated in May 2020 and features new lighting and geometry systems that can make games look more realistic than ever before.

Now Playing: How To Get The Best TV For PS5 And Xbox Series X, Gamescom 2020 Breakdown | Generation Next

In this post we're rounding up all the confirmed PlayStation 5 games, and also denoting the titles that we think, or are assumed to, release on the next-generation system. This list covers the new games that will be released on PlayStation 5. The console will automatically play the "overwhelming majority" the PS4 games you may already own, since it is backward compatible with that console. However, new first-party PS5 games are going to be exclusive to the system rather than get a cross-generational release so as to make full use of the new hardware. This is the case with newly-announced games like Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which makes use of the system's super-fast SSD to almost instantly teleport into new worlds. More third-party games from companies like EA and Activision will likely come out over time, as well. These will almost certainly include major franchises such as Madden and Call of Duty, and we got our first taste of some of EA's projects during its June EA Play event.

If you're curious about what Microsoft has to offer on its end of the next-generation console race, then be sure to check out our Xbox Series X game roundup after you're done with the PS5 list below.

You can check out all of the confirmed, and presumed, PS5 titles below. We'll continue to update this post in the days, weeks, and months ahead as new and more titles get announced.

It brings back familiar faces such as Mason, Woods, and Hudson for a globe-trotting story that's set in the 1980s with certain parts going back to 1968 during the Vietnam War. It's a direct sequel to the original Black Ops, and the setup has Soviet Russia and the United States amid tensions of nuclear war playing dangerous spy games with each other through covert ops, which is what you'll be taking part in.

The series's classic multiplayer is also returning with cross generational play and cross progression support. However, little else is known at the moment about what we can expect. A stream detailing more about multiplayer is scheduled for early September, so we should be able to learn more sooner than later.

It makes sense that Bethesda would return to one of its best-known and most-acclaimed franchises with new consoles coming soon. After all, The Elder Scrolls V has sold a whopping 30 million copies--across nearly every platform under the sun--making it one of the most successful single video games in history. Like Starfield, Bethesda hasn't said if The Elder Scrolls VI will come to next-generation consoles, but that seems like a sure thing.

Release Date: TBA (but confirmed to be after Bethesda Game Studios' other new game, Starfield)

Warframe

The immensely popular free-to-play shooter Warframe, which was originally released in 2013, is coming to next-generation consoles. Parent publisher Leyou announced the next-gen version during an earnings event where it stated that bringing the title to new systems should help the game grow even bigger still.

Release Date For PS5: TBA

Most of these games dont even have release dates.

Definitely a good reason to wait until a price drop for this system.

@50cratez: Ya sure it is. Bloatware? If you want to see that go look at anything Nintendo related. There's no wonder why Nintendo games sell so well because most of their games library is made up of shovelware. At least the Switch is getting more third party support albeit not the greatest version but hey if you want to play those games on the run, there you go. Anyways SONY's PS5 has something almost for everyone. First person shooters, 3D cartoony platforming, action adventure, action open world, racing, sports, horror, sci-fi, action rpg, action puzzle, story heavy games and many others. Plus how do you know that it's expensive? Tell us the price if not then take your trolling elsewhere because many people are excited for the PS5 and we don't need a buzzkill. Especially during self isolation. It's just good that the PS4 has gotten some good exclusives during it.

Dont think you need a new rig to play fortnite....isn't the PS5 supposed to be backwards compatilble? Nothing in this list really stands out.... Nothing to make me really spend the cash. Elder Scrolls 6 looks promising but won't be out at launch.

You're playing it safe, Gamespot, listing mainly multiplatform games... Call Of Duty? Really? You should have also mentioned a new FIFA, NFS or GTA then we would have really been in awe O_O

Anyway, from the exclusives line-up, as new games (not remakes) i would definitely expect Bloodborne 2 (around 2022), God Of War 2, Horizon Zero Dawn 2 and a new Uncharted game.

So then Quantum Error, and hopefully Elden Ring in addition to a nice surprise like Demon’s Souls. Hoping for a solid fighting game too. Would be nice if SOCOM was resurrected but now I’m really dreaming.

Yo where's GT 7.

It seems kind of obvious that it will be a launch title

They should add Resident Evil 8 to the list, since Capcom has already said they plan on releasing new RE games at the end of every year for the next few years and we KNOW RE8 is the next one. Demon's Souls may be rumours, but we know Bluepoint is doing something, so they should make the list. Same with Silent Hill.

As far as exclusives go, I just want to see Bloodborne 2, Battlefield 6, the new COD and something on Elden Ring. And I'd also like to see some absolutely knock-your-socks-off new Exclusive IP's I know Sony is capable of.

As far as remasters, etc. go, I'd love to see The Resistance trilogy, Modern Warfare 3 Remastered (We've already got 1 & 2 so why not 3 - w/ Spec Ops please!) and the Dead Space trilogy.

As far as new games in existing IP's, I know it'll never happen but I'd love to see a 4th game in both the Crysis and Dead Space series. Especially the way the DLC in DS3 left off.

@DETfaninATL: oh yes, I've been hoping for more in the dead space universe, be it a remake or sequel. Sadly though I believe EA has squeezed all the cash they can from the franchise and more or less destroyed Visceral games in the process.

As for Bloodborne 2, I'm hopeful. At least we'll have Elden Ring!

@DETfaninATL: Dead Space isn't going to happen. Sorry, that's just how EA is. They don't do remasters surprisingly. They might do Mass Effect, but only because so many people are asking for it and I suspect it will be a one time thing.

@Barighm: They're doing C&C remasters. I imagine, if the C&C remasters, and the presumptive ME remasters sell well, we'll see more.

I'll probably get most of these on PC apart from the PS4 exclusives. I mean PC is where everything plays best.

Come on silent hill! Really hope it’s true. Looking forward to the next gen for both consoles, not so much for the rampant fanboys but that’s always the same

But, what about exclusives though?

I really don't care about multiplatform games. Considering I already have to wait at least a year for it to be playable. Considering they're never finished at launched. And, take between 2 weeks, to two years worth of patches, and updates to be complete. And, even then they're still issues.

@illegal_peanut: There’s Godfall but that’s not really a true playstation exclusive as it’s coming to pc.

Sony will probably announce some exclusives on June 3 when they have there show or whatever there doing. If they pull another Cerny deep dive snooze feat the SDF playstation nation are going to be rioting in the streets lol.

They really need to show what the ps5 looks like.
