Iceland-based game developer Crowd Control Productions (CCP) today announced that it is accepting applications for the upcoming beta test of EVE: The Second Genesis, its online space role-playing game. The developer has completed the closed alpha test of the game and plans to begin the beta test in the coming months. Those interested in participating in the test may now sign up at the game's official beta test registration page.

EVE: The Second Genesis is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game set in a huge persistent universe made up of more than 5000 solar systems. Players begin the game with a basic ship that they can use in any way to make money, through trade, mining, research, piracy, smuggling, bounty hunting, or a number of other activities. As players progress through the game, they will be able to spend their earnings to customize their ships with a variety of upgrades and improvements.

EVE is scheduled for release in mid-2002. For more information, take a look at our previous coverage of the game.
