Valorant Beta Error Code 43: Server Issues Persist On Launch Day

Valorant launches its closed beta starting today, but a number of players are timing out with "Error 43."

Comments

Update: It already pushed one hotfix for the Valorant beta's at-launch server issues earlier in the day, but now Riot is now exploring a new fix for what it describes as "Riot-wide server/login issues" that are impacting all of its games. If you've been trying to play the new Valorant beta and are running into issues, including error code: 43, this is probably why.

If you haven't received an invite to play yet, find out how to access the Valorant closed beta here. It requires you to watch Twitch streams, so while the game may be down or having issues for some, you can still start on your closed beta registration in the meantime.

Now Playing: Valorant - Riot Games Gameplay Reveal Preview

Original story follows...

League of Legends developer Riot Games is branching out with new projects like Valorant, which launches its closed beta starting today. It wouldn't be a beta without a few snags, though, and beta players are hitting errors preventing them from trying out the new character shooter.

The official Valorant Twitter account says that logins on one service are causing timeouts down the line, and that Riot is aware of the problem and working on it. It also referred players to Riot Support, which issued its own statement. A number of players appear to be hitting "Error 43," which appears after hanging in a loading screen. That may be the timeout error that Riot described. The official Valorant account on Twitter has announced a fix that will hopefully address the issue, and has paused closed beta distribution in the meantime. However, you can still sign up for the beta while you wait.

For the time being, the closed beta is limited to the United States, Europe, Canada, Russia, and Turkey. Riot has said that other regions may be coming but it will depend on developments with the coronavirus pandemic. To access the beta, you'll need to register a Riot account and link it to a Twitch account, then watch Valorant streams.

Valorant is a 5v5 multiplayer shooter with some apparent similarities to Overwatch, including special powers and abilities for each of the distinct "Agent" characters. It was announced as part of Riot's effort to develop several games in addition to its continuing support for League of Legends. Another of its projects, Legends of Runeterra, is a digital card game that has also recently entered beta.
