First unveiled over four years ago, Epic Games' Fortnite hasn't been in the spotlight much recently. The developer has now offered reassurances about the game's status, though it did also make clear what you could already guess: Paragon, its upcoming MOBA, comes first.

Asked by Game Informer about where things stand with Fortnite, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney explained that the studio's focus moved to Paragon. "We figure we should start with one major successful launch and do one at a time. Fortnite will be next."

He added that Fortnite is still "moving ahead full-speed," but emphasized that it's not an easy game to make.

"It's a game with awesome and complex RPG-type systems, and a really interesting meta game around it," he said. "It's a game that takes time to get right. It remains a huge priority for Epic, and expect more news to come out over time."

Fortnite was first announced at the Video Game Awards in December 2011, with Cliff Bleszinski (who has since moved on from Epic) introducing a trailer for the game. Sweeney has since summed it up as "sort of Minecraft meets Left 4 Dead." A closed alpha test began late in 2014, and as recently as last year, Epic was showing off extensive footage and giving us a chance to play the game, which was surprisingly fun.

You can still sign up for the alpha, which continues to get regular updates, over at its official website.
