Ensemble's Second Title Picks Up Speed

A member of id's design team is now working with game developer Ensemble on its second title.

A member of id's design team, Sandy Petersen, has left that company and is now working with Dallas game developer Ensemble.

Petersen worked on id titles Doom, Doom II, Quake, and up until three weeks ago, Quake II. He has been at Ensemble for just two weeks, working on that company's still-untitled second project. Ensemble's first title, Age of Empires, is to be published by Microsoft this October.

As for the move to Ensemble, Petersen told GS News, "The dynamic had changed at id. I'm excited by the dynamic at Ensemble - they're doing the kind of games I like."

Petersen is working on Ensemble's second title, which he calls "a fantasy, puzzle game…a multi-unit strategy game with strong story elements."

While no publisher has been attached to Ensemble's second title, Microsoft seems poised to pick up Ensemble's second title. A Microsoft spokesperson told GS News today that Petersen's hire "is exciting news for Ensemble."
