Enlight to publish X2: The Threat
Egosoft secures a US publisher for the sequel to its 1999 3D space combat game.
Enlight has announced that it will publish X2: The Threat in North America later this year. The game features a brand-new graphics engine and a large dynamic universe that contains thousands of unique objects, including many space stations, more than 70 types of ships, and a number of commodities to trade with different races, each with its own agenda and technologies. Players can carve out their own empires as a trader, a bounty hunter, a pirate, a miner, or any combination of those roles.
"We believe X2 will be viewed as the next major evolution in the space simulation genre," said Bernd Lehahn, CEO of Egosoft. "Our unique universe provides a very open-ended experience and unparalleled freedom of gameplay. After eight years of intense development on the X series of games, we are excited to partner with Enlight to release our next installment."
X2: The Threat is scheduled for release this November. For more details, check out our previous coverage of the game.
