On Monday, Enix and Game Arts announced an extended partnership in software development and distribution and confirmed a new game in the Grandia series. Though a PlayStation 2 port of Grandia II has already been announced by Ubi Soft for North America, the companies confirmed that the title will be released this winter in Japan, with Enix as the publisher. More interestingly, both companies will be collaborating on the development of its follow-up, which is tentatively titled Grandia X. The game has currently been confirmed for the PlayStation 2 and is scheduled for a release in spring 2002. No specific game information is available at this time.

The general partnership between Enix and Game Arts will focus on future development of network-compatible titles. Enix, publisher of Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in the US) and Valkyrie Profile, has acquired 15 percent stake in Game Arts as part of the agreement.
