Empire of Sin, the new turn-based strategy RPG set in the prohibition era from Romero Games and Paradox Interactive, is out now.

The game is available for purchase on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC for $40 USD / £35 / €50. You can check out the launch trailer below.

Empire of Sin is set in the 1920s, with a story that focuses on organized crime. Players must "hustle, charm, and intimidate" their way to the top.

The game features the iconic Chicago mob boss Al Capone, along with fictional ones like Goldie Garneau. There are more than 50 other gangsters that can be recruited, too. The goal of the turn-based combat is to keep your turf safe and also attack others.

"Empire of Sin is labor of love, a game I've wanted to make for 20 years," Romero Games game director Brenda Romero said in a statement. "If games are about wish fulfillment, anyone who's ever wished to run a criminal empire is in for a treat."

"We designed the game to put you right there in the thick of the action, at the very beginning of Prohibition. It goes without saying, but I'll say it--the Empire of Sin team can't wait to get this game into players' hands."

Empire of Sin currently has a 67 on Metacritic.

"Turn based". Yuk. I would love it as a third person shooter though.

Divinity Original Sin 2 and even Wasteland 3 raised the bar pretty high for me. I don’t know if this one will do the trick.

I was thinking about supporting this and giving it a blind shot, but the £9 day 1 DLC instantly left a sour taste.

One of my favorite period time pieces is the LA Noire, or film noir, 1920-50's , detective gumshoe, mobsters with machine guns and flappers at every club. From Philip Marlowe, Dick Tracy comics and movies, or a Maltese falcon it was a time of great excess, corruption, and HOLLYWOOD.

I look forward to the game but I only saw a few seconds of actual gameplay or combat. I hope this game is not entirely menus and cutscenes.
