A "Fisher's Rest" outpost will be added to the game.

Following the tragic passing of actress Carrie Fisher this week, some Elite: Dangerous players requested some form of a memorial for the Star Wars legend. Their wishes are being granted.

A producer for Elite: Dangerous responded to the community's request, writing in the game's forums, "Sad news indeed--a 'Fisher's Rest' outpost will be added to the game in the 2.3 release." This post was spotted this week by DualShockers.

This won't be the first time that Elite: Dangerous has memorialized a sci-fi star. In 2015, developer Frontier created a Vulcan planet and a "Leonard Nimoy Station" to honor the late Star Trek actor.

Star Wars: The Old Republic players have also called for a tribute to Fisher in that game in the form of a statue. However, as PC Gamer points out, that might not work, since The Old Republic is set thousands of years before Leia was born.

Fisher reportedly suffered a heart attack on a December 23 London-to-LA flight, before passing away on the morning of December 27. She was 60. There has been an outpouring of love for Fisher from those that knew her--you can read some heartfelt messages here.
