Westwood Studios has announced that it's planning to celebrate Halloween in Earth & Beyond by releasing themed content for the game on October 30. The update will allow players to participate in an in-game Halloween event incorporating new quests and unique items that will only be available on October 31. Other Halloween-themed additions to the game will include costumes and pumpkin projectiles for players' avatars and starships.

"The entire Earth & Beyond team has had a blast creating these Halloween activities," said Craig Alexander, vice president and executive producer of the game. "We're excited to be able to host in-game events like this, and we think our players will have fun with the unique content and missions we've come up with."

Westwood is also hosting a Halloween competition on the official Earth & Beyond Web site. From October 25, entrants can submit their own designs for a Halloween costume for Megan, the game's digital assistant, and the winners chosen by Westwood on November 8 will receive Earth & Beyond merchandise.

Earth & Beyond is a futuristic online RPG in which players take command of their own starships and play alongside thousands of other gamers. For more information and a full review of the game, which was released last month, check out our previous coverage .
