Playing games won't be the only way to earn achievements on Xbox One. Microsoft today provided more details on various achievements users can earn on the next-generation console by watching video content through various entertainment services.

A new image posted by Microsoft today (above) shows that users can participate in time-based challenges to earn achievements for Amazon Instant Video.

One example provided was a challenge of watching 10 titles before the end of 2013. In this case, players had 60 days to complete the challenge to earn the achievement. There will also be achievements for Xbox Video, the image suggests.

Achievements earned through media consumption on Xbox One will not yield gamerscore. The only way to earn gamerscore is by playing games, Microsoft confirmed this summer.

Media achievements will not be limited to Amazon Instant Video. Xbox marketing director Yusuf Mehdi told Shacknews that, "We're going to have more achievements for media experiences in general."

Microsoft also today announced a list of entertainment applications--broken down by region--that will be available between launch on November 22 and spring 2014. It has not been announced if any of these apps will support achievements.

In addition, Xbox One users can watch live TV through the console, and will be able to earn achievements for doing so, Mehdi said, though no details are available. For more on the Xbox One, which launches in two weeks, check out the 12-minute dashboard walkthrough video below.
