EA to buy Black Box

Electronic Arts will acquire the Canadian game studio currently developing Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2.

Electronic Arts has announced that it will acquire Black Box Games, the Vancouver-based game studio that is currently working on Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, EA's upcoming street racing game. Under the agreement, the studio will become a wholly owned subsidiary of EA. Black Box Games was founded in 1998. The company has produced versions of EA's NASCAR Thunder 2002, Midway's NHL Hitz 2002, and Sega's NHL 2K and Soccer Slam.
