Electronic Arts today announced that it has signed an exclusive worldwide publishing agreement with Castaway Entertainment. The new development studio, which is currently working on an unannounced action role-playing game, includes eight staff members, whose credits include Diablo, Diablo II, and Diablo II: Lords of Destruction. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

"Our partnership with EA--the number one PC game publisher in the world--ensures that this title will have the key resources and support that it needs to become a creative, addictive, and genre-defining title," said Michael Scandizzo, president of Castaway Entertainment.

"We are especially excited about this partnership because, like EA, the team at Castaway Entertainment is dedicated to making best-of-breed entertainment titles," said John Riccitiello, president and chief operating officer at Electronic Arts. "They have the passion, heart, and hands-on experience it takes to build an action RPG title that truly sets the standard within the category. We are confident that this new title will reinvigorate the category by delivering a refreshing gameplay experience and epic RPG fantasy."

We'll bring you more information on Castaway Entertainment's first game as soon as it becomes available.
