Electronic Arts today announced that it has signed a worldwide publishing agreement with celebrated game designer Chris Taylor of Gas Powered Games. Taylor is best known for his work on the excellent 1997 strategy game Total Annihilation, and the two companies are currently working on a real-time strategy title for the PC for release in 2006.

"This is a huge opportunity for our company--to be working with the most successful and proven publisher of video games in the world," said Chris Taylor, president of Gas Powered Games. "We worked hard to find a publisher that shared our vision for this new title, and it's really no surprise that we partnered with EA. It was the unanimously smart decision for us, and we couldn't be happier about it."

"At EA Partners we seek out energetic, creative development studios that are looking to take their project to the next level," said John Riccitiello, president and chief operating officer at Electronic Arts. "The folks at Gas Powered Games are an extraordinarily talented bunch with a proven ability to deliver top-quality games. We are confident that this partnership will result in a blockbuster title that strikes a chord with gamers worldwide."

We'll bring you more information on Gas Powered Games' upcoming real-time strategy game as soon as it becomes available.
