A sequel to January's NFL Street is already in the works at Electronic Arts' Tiburon studio, the company announced today. NFL Street 2 is scheduled for release in early 2005 and will be available for the Xbox, PlayStation 2, and GameCube. The original game sold 1.5 million units, placing it second to Madden 2004 in last year's season of football games.

NFL Street 2 will once again throw players into games of seven-on-seven football in various urban settings. The franchise was inspired by EA's NBA Street, so these off-the-field football games are heavy on hitting and light on rules. According to EA, the game has been completely redesigned, featuring new game modes, interactive walls moves, and special showmanship catches. For the first time, both the Xbox and PlayStation 2 versions of NFL Street 2 will be playable online.

EA additionally declared that the first video of NFL Street 2 will be featured in the EA Sports extras section on the Madden NFL 2005 disc, whose development at Tiburon is almost totally complete. Madden 2005 will be available in stores August 9.

GameSpot will provide more information on NFL Street 2 as it becomes available.
