E3 2019: Nintendo Switch Release Of An Internet-Favorite Game Coming Soon

Dream Daddy is coming to Switch, and it releases "in the very near future."

E3 2019's conferences are almost over, and there have been loads of announcements already. Another newly revealed game port for Nintendo Switch is set to release "in the very near future" and is sure to get much of the internet very excited. While much of the year's Nintendo Switch news will be coming today as part of the Nintendo Direct stream, we got a new game announcement ahead of time. Dream Daddy: A Dad Dating Simulator is coming to Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android soon, publisher Game Grumps has announced.

"We'll be dropping Dream Daddy for Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android in the very near future," the company said on Twitter. "An official release date will be forthcoming, so stay tuned!"

To celebrate the announcement, Game Grumps has made new mixtapes for each of the game's characters. The publisher also teased there might be new characters coming when the game comes to the new platforms.

Dream Daddy was first released on PC in 2017 and soon became a cult hit. The game, which came to PS4 late last year, has you play as a dad romancing other dads in your town. It's filled with dad-based puns, and at its core it has an incredibly heartwarming story about raising a daughter on your own. It's also inclusive without feeling like the diversity is just posturing; gender and sexuality issues are presented in a straightforward manner, but for the most part, the dads' narrative arcs are about fatherhood. We said it was one of the best PC games you might have missed in 2017.

This is one of what's sure to be a huge number of games for Switch at E3. We'll be keeping track of all the new ones to help you stay on top of all the announcements. The Nintendo Direct on Tuesday is still a big question mark in terms of what we can expect beyond the fact that it will run for 40 minutes. One of the very few clear promises came over the weekend, as it was confirmed we'll find out who the next Smash Ultimate DLC character is during the Direct.

This reminds me of when SEGA announced they had gotten Namco on board for Dreamcast development when they were the hottest software developers around. People were expecting Tekken, Ridge, or Soul Calibur for their first game but it was Mr. Effing Driller. ?

@ZombieVirolina: In its defense though, Mr. Driller was pretty awesome. It's actually my favorite of the IPs you listed, lol.

@lionheartssj1: I think "most infamous" is probably a better adjective.

I thought it'd be The Witcher 3 or a remake of a classic title. Subverted expectations?

I'm not gonna lie..... I didn't even know this game existed and I am on game sites for most of the day every day..... so how is it the Internet's Favorite Game??? Also would like to say before someone comments that this game has amazing reviews on Steam, over 100 other games have higher ratings on there. An there are plenty of games that have over a 70 on Metacritic (though the common gamer these days doesn't tend to pay attention to metacritic anymore).

I don't think anybody on the internet is going to be excited about this.
maybe if it is Metroid Prime 4, Bayonetta 3 or Animal Crossing that hasn't been seen, but from what I can tell nobody is talking about this game.

@gargungulunk: Shovelware that has over 3000 reviews on steam with 88% of those reviews being positive. Shovelware that sits at 72 on Metacritic. I'm sorry to ask, but what?

"Dream Daddy is coming to Switch." should have been the title of the article, but that wouldn't have been good clickbait, right? Also, "One Of The Internet's Favorite Games"? What absolute nonsense.

Perhaps there's a reason why people keep losing trust in the news that they read. Nobody likes being manipulated and lied to. It's a vicious cycle: the more those fake news hurt trust, the more egregious the fake news have to be to bait people, the more they hurt trust.

Now we've reached the point where the title claims "Nintendo Switch Is Getting One Of The Internet's Favorite Games" and then it's a game that absolutely nobody cares about. This means that "GameStop News" is completely pointless, because the title of the article is in no way related to the content. As such, I'll now use a blocker to get rid of the "Gamestop News" element on GameFAQs and won't be baited by this shameless clickbait anymore.

Goodbye forever.
