Elden Ring was one of the most exciting games shown off at Microsoft's E3 2019 press conference, and at the event overall. The game is a collaboration between From Software and George RR Martin, but it was only announced on stage for Xbox One and PC. But as suspected, it will not be an exclusive to those platforms, as publisher Bandai Namco has now confirmed the game will also launch on PS4. It's also coming to Xbox Series X|S and PS5, as revealed in the Elden Ring gameplay trailer.

"Elden Ring is the iconic collaboration between two giants of fantasy, George RR Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki," the company wrote on Twitter. "Coming to Xbox One, PS4, and digital PC." The latter part of the quote seems to confirm the game will not receive a physical launch on PC. There's no word on whether the game will see a simultaneous launch, but at this point, we don't even know the game's release date. That said, retailers are happy to let you pre-order Elden Ring now.

Now Playing: Elden Ring Reveal Trailer | Microsoft Press Conference E3 2019

The announcement comes as good news for fans who are excited by the pedigree of the teams behind Elden Ring. From Software is best known for developing Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and, most recently, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. George RR Martin, meanwhile, is the author of A Song of Ice and Fire--the books Game of Thrones is based on.

This is another example of showing up on Xbox's stage as not being evidence of exclusivity. Xbox boss Phil Spencer has already noted that Phantasy Star Online 2 will come to other platforms, which is welcome news for those who have been waiting years to see it come to the West.

Elden Ring sees you travel throughout a massive open world, exploring multiple kingdoms that are each ruled by a powerful entity. Defeating said rulers gifts you with their power. The pre-rendered trailer shown at E3 doesn't reveal much else--other than the fact there are lots of arms--but it establishes the game's bleak and mysterious tone, which is essential to any From Software game.

The game is the first of two unannounced titles From Software has been working on for the past few years. The second game remains a mystery. For more on the biggest gaming showcase of the year, check out the full E3 2019 press conference schedule.
