A new weapon, a new Legend, and a better Battle Pass.

Respawn took the stage at Electronic Arts' pre-E3 event, EA Play, to talk all about the upcoming launch of Season 2 for Apex Legends. The updates include a new legend named Wattson, new weapon, new Legendary skins, and much more. Season 2 is dubbed Battle Charge, and it starts on July 2.

The centerpiece of the new season is the introduction of Wattson, a young technology prodigy. An animated short introduced her backstory, and her powers include a defensive electric wall.

Now Playing: E3 2019: Apex Legends Season 2 Adds L-Star, Wattson, And Ranked Mode - GS News Update

The next season will be challenge-based not unlike Fortnite, and the challenges will stack so that you can get several done over a weekend if you haven't played in a while. Both daily and weekly challenges will be available, and Respawn is doing away with things like badges and stat trackers as rewards in favor of new "content categories." You'll also be able to earn crafting metal.

A new Ranked mode is also coming. Ranked will consist of six tiers from Bronze to Apex Predator, and you'll get special matchmaking with others of your rank. You'll even get some extra bonuses based on your rank at the end of a season.

The presentation also teased four new Legendary skins coming: Caustic (Prince of Darkness), Octane (Jade Tiger), Spitfire (Intimidator), and R-301 (Iron Rampage, at level 100, plus a gold version). The new L-Star plasma weapon is also coming from Titanfall.

As noted above, a new weapon--the L-Star from Titanfall--is on the way to the game. It will be extremely powerful and only obtainable through air drops. If you're lucky enough to get your hands on one, you won't be able to get additional ammo for it. On the other end of the spectrum, the game's worst gun, the Mozambique, is getting a buff.

Apex's segment ended with an exciting tease of a dragon or some kind of massive creature. Respawn didn't say much, but something much different is coming to the game soon.
