Every year, a collection of critics from 50 different video game publications (including GameSpot) come together to pick the best games of E3. Not every game is eligible; the game must have been "hands-on playable" to be considered (which is why you won't see exciting games like Cyberpunk 2077, Fallout 76, and Death Stranding on the list). Now, the critics have revealed their nominations for the annual Game Critics Awards.

The biggest award is, of course, Best of Show, and this year Anthem, Marvel's Spider-Man, Resident Evil 2, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are all in the running. Anthem is clearly the breakout success with the most nominations at five, while Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice has four. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Marvel's Spider-Man, Resident Evil 2, and Battlefield V each have three nominations.

You can get a look at all the nominations below, and to see who wins, check out GameSpot's coverage on July 2. Games that were featured at E3 but weren't playable are eligible for a few special commendations, so even if you're most anticipated game isn't in the list, it could still be recognized for exceptional graphics, sound, or innovation. GameSpot has done its own list of the top E3 highlights, so check out our article on E3 2018's best games and tech.
