We're coming up quickly on the biggest gaming showcase of the year, E3 2018, and this year's expo is shaping up to be an important one for many developers. That holds especially true for Nintendo. With the Switch well into its second year on the market, the company will look to continue the system's impressive early momentum with a strong E3 showing--although what that will consist of is still very much up in the air.

Nintendo has been characteristically quiet in the weeks leading up to E3, which has certainly not helped stymie the rumor mill from churning. Reports have been swirling about the possible games the company will unveil during its E3 2018 presentation, such as a purported Star Fox racing game from Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios.

Now Playing: The History Of E3

Of course, that remains unsubstantiated, so we have little idea of what surprises await during Nintendo's presentation this year. The company, for its part, has only confirmed a handful of titles that will appear in its E3 2018 lineup. We know Super Smash Bros. for Switch will feature prominently in its E3 broadcasts and be playable on the E3 showfloor. We also know that Nintendo will host an esports competition for Splatoon 2, which is set to receive a big, paid DLC expansion this summer. And Capcom's recently announced Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate will be shown off ahead of its Switch launch this summer.

Outside of those games, however, Nintendo's E3 lineup remains shrouded in mystery, although there are a number of already-announced games that could very well show up. Nintendo has previously said that a Switch installment of Fire Emblem will launch in 2018, although we've yet to see it. Beyond that, it seems safe to assume we'll hear more details about the upcoming "core" Pokemon RPG for Switch. We may also learn more about Metroid Prime 4 and Yoshi for Switch, both of which were announced at last year's E3.

Whatever the case, we'll know for sure in only a couple of weeks. Nintendo will broadcast its Direct-style E3 presentation online on Tuesday, June 12, at 9 AM PT / 12 PM ET, just prior to when E3 proper begins. Until then, you can see the full list of confirmed Switch games for E3 2018 below.
