Now Playing: Devil May Cry 5 - Official Reveal Trailer | E3 2018

10 years after Devil May Cry 4, fans of the series are getting a true sequel. Microsoft announced Devil May Cry V is coming Spring 2019. It gave audiences a first look during its E3 2018 press conference, and you can watch the presentation in the video above.

As you can see, Devil May Cry V will feature more of slick, stylish combat the series is known for. Director Hideaki Itsuno appeared on stage, speaking about Capcom's efforts to make the game's combat and controls a superior experience. Capcom is developing the game internally, and the trailer showed Nero, as he appears to be using Red Queen, the sword from Devil May Cry 4.

Capcom also says the studio has strived to create "world class visuals" with the game. Itsuno also said on stage to say this is a "true" sequel to the last numbered entry in the series. According to him, it feels better than any action game Capcom has previously created.

A few other details were shared in a subsequent press release. It describes DMC5 thusly: "A brand-new entry in the legendary over-the-top action series comes to Xbox One in spring 2019, complete with its signature blend of high-octane stylized action and otherworldly and original characters the series is known for. Years have passed since the legions of hell have set foot in this world, but now a new demonic invasion has begun, and humanity’s last hope will rest in the hands of three lone demon hunters, each offering a radically different play style. United by fate and a thirst for vengeance, these demon hunters will have to face their demons if they hope to survive. The devil you know returns in the most over the top, technically advanced, utterly insane action experience of this generation."

Dear Capcom
you are so pathetic, do you know why? Because it does not matter how hard you try, It does not matter you fire Hideki Kamiya and Shinji Mikami, it does not matter you introduce stupid empty miserable new characters, you cannot create a character better than Dante, and you know it!! you don't even dare not use him!! Shame on you. Do you know why you cannot? Because Hideki is a genius and you suck!

So was DmC a reboot of the series or a prequel? Just asking because he has a robotic arm now, and I don't believe he had that in the originals when he was an adult.

@scatterbrain007: A reboot, and with NT's acquisition by MS, I don't think they're gonna continue with it. Apparently, his new arm happened during this game as there's a scene where his original devil bringer arm was taken by someone.

@soliaired50: Thanks for the explanation, I'll need to read up on it. See which games are canon and whatnot.

And all cars in "London" have the steering wheel on the wrong side. I would believe that they imported the truck or drive to London but even parked cars have the steering wheels on the wrong side.

Well at least Capcom is trying. Glad to see them cooking up some stuff in the kitchen

American producer and it shows. RIP DMC.

@erhre: Actually no. It's made by the actual director of DMC3 and DMC4. That Japanese guy on the stage was him and it looks great and more like DMC4 than DmC ever was. So many problems fixed from crappy DmC immediately and is actually DMC5. You are clueless. Stop talking about DMC, you know nothing about what makes the franchise good clearly.

The voice acting and music and sequences looked so cheesy. Its like the devs said I know how we can sell it, lets make it all edgy and gimmicky. Not sold on it nah

@Archangel2222: DMC was ALWAYS like that and by design. Part of the point of the franchise and the charm...

@Archangel2222: Not every game needs to be taken seriously.

Glad DMC is back, though they seem to mix in some of that DmC and Capcom crappiness with it (aweful music, Nero's douchebag look and poor face animation). DMC is about style after all and the trailer was kinda DmC lame.

The time has come and so have I ..... I'll laugh last cause you came to die.

No need to buy God Of War when we have Devil May Cry 5.

@TheDeadKennedys: It was so crappy that it will probably be mentioned in most GoTY conversations.

Nice try...

I thought Sony helped Capcom to make DMC5 happen?

Avatar image for deactivated-5c56012aaa167

@sladakrobot: A bad rumor that fortunately was wrong.

Its fortunate that DmC5 development is not helped by Microsoft, because they create overrated shooters, and microtransaction ridden games
