E3 2018: Cyberpunk 2077's Trailer Gave Away Witcher 3 Copies In Plain Sight

You got Witcher in my Cyberpunk!

Microsoft's E3 2018 presentation finally debuted the first look at CD Projekt Red's upcoming game Cyberpunk 2077 with a trailer. But eagle-eyed viewers noticed a little Easter egg in the show, and received a free critically acclaimed game as a result.

Just as Microsoft's conference was ending, it was "hacked" by Cyberpunk to show one more trailer. The red DOS prompts that kicked off the takeover were familiar enough, but then they began to stream a series of codes rapid-fire. Some viewers noticed these 25-digit codes looked an awful lot like Xbox redemption codes, and promptly entered them. The ingenuity was rewarded with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt GOTY edition.

Now Playing: Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox E3 2018 Trailer

It's a characteristically playful and fan-friendly move from CD Projekt Red. The codes streamed so fast that there may still be one unclaimed, but word has gotten out and they appear to be going fast. GameSpot confirmed these were valid Xbox codes by entering one and finding it had already been redeemed.

One number conspicuously absent from the Cyberpunk trailer, though, was a release date for the upcoming game. We're not sure when to expect it, though with E3 just getting started we may still hear about it before the week's end.
