While onstage during Bethesda's E3 2018 press conference, the publisher's vice president, Pete Hines, took a well-time comedic shot at Walmart Canada. In May, the retailer listed several unannounced games on its website, including Rage 2--and Bethesda has a sense of humor about it.

At the beginning of the press conference, Hines quipped, "We're starting with a game we announced a few months ago through our friends at Walmart Canada." This of course refers to Rage 2 and was followed by a new trailer.

At the time of the leak, Bethesda, Rage, and Hines himself had some fun on Twitter. This included a tweet from Hines that read, "This is why we can't have nice things," and cheeky posts by the publisher. Rage 2 was officially announced shortly after.
