Ubisoft's Conference was leagues better than Microsoft's.

Talk about embarrassing.

Avatar image for a687947

@zero_dawn: that is definitely not true. Microsoft has by far had the best conference this year so far.

Avatar image for gamespotaddct

@a687947: Microsoft had a decent conference with decent games that are not even exclusive. Ubisoft had the better showing

Avatar image for a687947
a687947

@gamespotaddct: Microsoft had several exclusives and Ubisoft's biggest game. Nothing shown at Ubisoft's conference was even remotely interesting outside of Transference, Far Cry 5, and South Park. Assassin's Creed doesn't count considering it was shown first yesterday, during Microsoft's conference.

Avatar image for deactivated-5a807722de4ed

@a687947: Yes, they did have several exclusives but it clearly was quantity over quality AND they provided zero reason to purchase an Xbox One X, unless of course one has the money to purchase all consoles. The budget minded consumer that loves games has no more reason to purchase a One X after Spencer's presentation. Simply put, Microsoft over promised and under delivered. Sony continued what we wanted more of from E3 2016. Day's Gone, God of War and the Uncharted Spin-off. They are more in-tuned with their fan-base than Microsoft. We saw more of Crackdown 3 during E3 2016 than we did for this year's presentation which doesn't make sense. The strategy should be tease us a little, show progress throughout the next few months and show us a lot more a year later. Sony did that for us, but Microsoft is going backwards with Crackdown.

They instead have teased us two years ago, showed progress over a couple of years and showed us less on Sunday. But, we did get more of Sea of Thieves...but, who really cares about that?

The "who had a better presentation" question is relative. Microsoft's general fan base is probably happy that they have some foresight regarding continued exclusive gaming support but those sitting on the fence who are factoring exclusive gaming in their decision are probably scratching their head about One X, maybe slightly interested in a newly priced 250 Xbox One S but will still weigh their decision based on PS4's exclusive titles. Why didn't Microsoft show as much real game-play with State of Decay 2 as much as Sony showed with Day's Gone? It's punch, counter-punch.

At the end of the day, one company should be able to say "we have something you don't" and I think Sony did that better than Microsoft. Sure, "the world's most powerful console" is something that Sony doesn't have at the moment but they have better games which is why they continue to outsell Xbox One 2:1 (north america) and 3:1 (Europe) and Microsoft did nothing to change the trajectory of those figures.

The Switch presentation several months ago is still the worse console launch but I would probably rank Xbox One X somewhere around how the Neo Geo was sold to us many, many years ago. Conceptually, it sounds extremely awesome but do I really want to pay $500 for a console that will offer games that will be a little more polished and faster but still limited to Xbox One parameters? Nah.....

@nibbin1191: There are a few good games in there so stop with your bitching. Assassins Creed always sells Far Cry will sell some too Beyond Good & Evil 2 can be a surprise hit even the South Park: The Fractured But Whole game can be a hit the last one was a surprise hit. I personally would not buy any of those games but that's just me, UBI soft will make a lot of money out of all those games that I mention some more than others. They have some games in there that are fans favorites and will always make money. I'll wait for the next Rayman game

If there's anyone over 40 posting (i'm sure you have to be there somewhere), has anyone ever seen a lineup of games this bad?

Is it me, or is that these young devs are taking too many drugs, and putting the effects on screen? The most awful crap i've ever seen.

Where's Splinter Cell? Maybe another Brothers in Arms game? No, cartoons, sci fi, bizarro racing games, pirates and hallucinations. Ridiculous. Never thought i'd EVER say this, but thank goodness for COD.

@jagdedge124: I dunno, I'm about to turn 35 and I see five games I'll definitely get, and another two that I might get after seeing more footage/gameplay.

Avatar image for spartanx169x

@jagdedge124: I'm 48. I'm really surprised as the lack of "blow me away" AAA games this year. I've seen only one that I didn't already know about that I'm actually interested in, thats Anthem. Shadow of War(Mordor Sequel) was already on my to buy list. Other than those, I have seen nothing worth spending top dollar money on($60 or more). Maybe, Maybe Sony will show us something. So far though, overall the games look just "ok" maybe worth getting for $20 or less when/if I'm bored.

-DOWN THE CRAPPER NINJA APPROVED-

Avatar image for videogameninja

@videogameninja:

So Ubisoft’s conference, while not the best had some notable standouts. Farcry 5 and the Crew 2 are of course big draws but I really think concluding with Beyond Good and Evil 2 helped end the conference on a somewhat good note. While that game may not garner as much excitement and hype as something the likes of a Shenmue 3 or Final Fantasy 7 Remake (at past E3’s.) I think it still was a pivotal moment in the Ubisoft conference, and truth be told, maybe one of the standouts moments of E3 so far.

-END ON A HIGH NINJA APPROVED-

Avatar image for Pyrosa
Pyrosa

@videogameninja: Gotta disagree, Ninja... Bethesda's lineup killed everything Ubi showed, IMO.

Wolfenstein... and... Did you see Wolfenstein?!?

Avatar image for videogameninja
videogameninja

@Pyrosa:

Sorry if I gave off the impression that I thought Ubisoft had the best conference because if I did then that was not my intent. I thought they ended on a high note with Beyond Good and Evil 2 (a highlight of E3 so far.) and that they had a few more noteworthy titles (Farcry 5, The Crew 2.) but other than that IMO I felt there was nothing really amazing about their showcase.

I’d have to put their conference in the same category as possibly EA’s. 1 or 2 titles that might raise a few eyebrows but for the most part lacking. Like you I feel that Bethesda has had one of, if not, the strongest conference in terms of games so far. Once again, that’s subjective. Someone else looking in might feel Ubisoft demolished everyone else or EA or Microsoft. Will be really interesting to see what Sony has up their sleeves later tonight. As sad as this sounds I don’t think they really need to do much. The conferences (once again IMO.) have not particularly been as strong as in past years.

-E3 IS STILL UP FOR GRABS NINJA APPROVED-

@Pyrosa: Bethesda had a poor ass line up. Wolfenstein and Evil within were the only two good ones
