During Nintendo's E3 press conference today, the company announced that Lady Palutena from the Kid Icarus series has joined the roster for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS. The fictional goddess has appeared in past Super Smash Bros. games, but never as a playable character.
A new trailer for Super Smash Bros. (above) shows not only Lady Palutena, but also Dark Pit, suggesting Pit's arch-rival might also appear in the game. Lady Palutena (and maybe Dark Pit) join an already confirmed roster of characters that includes the likes of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Zelda, Mega Man, Sonic, and the Wii Fit trainer, among others.
Also at E3 today, Nintendo announced that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U will be the first game to make use of the company's new Amiibo toys and that you'll be able to play with Miis. The new Super Smash Bros. launches for 3DS in October, while the Wii U version is due out sometime this holiday.
