The PlayStation 4 version of Grand Theft Auto V will contain a special perk, according to PlayStation marketing executive John Koller. Speaking with Kotaku at E3 about whether or not PS4 owners can expect something special from GTAV, Koller said, "I don't think we announced anything publicly on that, but there will be."
Koller went on to say that GTAV, released last year on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, did "extremely well" on the PS3. So much so that the index rate for the game--that is, the number of people who purchased the game on the PS3 relative to the Xbox 360 based on install base--"swung well into PlayStation's favor."
The executive added that he expects that trend to continue this year with GTAV for the PS4. "GTA is a PlayStation franchise," Koller said. "It started with us. We really feel strongly that it belongs as a key platform driver for us."
Asked again for more details about the special perk PS4 owners can expect for GTAV, Koller said, "GTAV is going to be, I think, a title we'll talk about more in the weeks and months to come, but GTAV and the GTA franchise is something that will be something very special on PlayStation."
GTAV launches for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC this fall. The game includes "across-the-board graphical and technical improvements," which aim to deliver a "stunning new level of detail," Rockstar said when the game was originally announced for the new platforms on Monday. Specifically, GTAV for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC will offer increased draw distances, finer texture details, denser traffic, and higher resolution.
