E3 2014: Assassin's Creed Unity E3 Poster Shows Four Characters

What might it mean?

No Caption Provided

A massive poster for Assassin's Creed Unity covering one outside wall of the Los Angeles Convention Center--the site of next week's E3--shows what appears to be four different assassins. We also see the tall tower from the game's teaser trailer.

What could it mean? A past report suggested Assassin's Creed Unity would feature four-player co-op. In addition, a source previously told The Escapist that Assassin's Creed Unity would have a co-op mode and that it would be revealed at E3.

Assassin's Creed Unity launches this holiday season for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

In addition to Assassin's Creed Unity, Ubisoft is rumored to be working on another Assassin's Creed game, subtitled Comet, for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This game will reportedly let you play as a Templar.

Ubisoft's E3 press conference takes place tomorrow, June 9, at 3 p.m. GameSpot will carry a live stream event, as well as instant analysis video features immediately following the event.

@nindin They sort of did, it was called "Freedom Cry" ^_^

But a straight followup to Black Flag would be a bit hard I think, since Edwards' story was concluded in a novel, and we already played as both his son and grandson, and they were not really pirates.

@zrex2metagor @nindin @AndyBear If anything IF and only IF they did it right, and kept the mechanics, including the fighting(but polish it all to hell) from four, and then spruce up the multiplayer with none of it resembling that of four. Did not let anyone touch the game that decided we as gamers are all dumb and don't notice continuity problems no matter how small or story plot holes(See Edward straight up easily doing away with an assassin, and then easily passing a test meant for one without any training) then I could get behind them exploring the life and assassin days of Connors teacher Achilles.

I was always curious to know more about him actually. In all honesty I found him more intriguing than Connor himself. Kinda disappointed they didn't explore him fully. Always thought they would. That and it'd give us a not so run of the mill character for a change. Would be a game open for discussion on account of his dealing with racism, slavery, and still somehow finding the order and deciding to protect those that think him inferior, etc.

<< LINK REMOVED >> True. You can argue about how great of a game AC4 was but you can't deny that it felt the least Assassins Creed-ish of all the games...even AC3 felt more of an AC game than AC4..

It was like you said,a "pirate simulator" and it was a great one at that but as an Assassins Creed game....lol NOPE!!!! It would be enjoyable only if you think of it as 3rd person version of Sid Mier's pirate or a Far Cry game set in the 18th century Caribbean.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> Here good sirs take my like. But you are right Sun. To me Creed started to decline after Revelations. I had high hopes for three but it wasn't what was promised, and was so full of bugs. Four is full of more bugs, continuity problems, and holes. Used to be a time they took their time with these games, now they release them back to back. I expected more from Ubisoft and there used to be a time they could do no wrong with me. Unfortunately now I can no longer call myself a Creed fan but rather I speculate from afar. Hard lesson learned.

its meants a new crappy AC game that will follow the trend of AC black flag and have a AWFULL story where no one feels like a real assasin, it will also be another crappy port, it will never be fixed, uplay will have problems for a week, and people will buy the sequel like always.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> I don't know. I felt that Edward was pretty clearly supposed to be a sort of villain in the story.

(warning, some vague spoilers ahead)

I felt like Edwards' story was supposed to sort of define the line between two forms of anarchy -- in one (that which the "Assassin's Creed" refers to, and to which characters like Edward Teach essentially follows) there are no laws; but human solidarity and a shared ethical vocabulary allow free, ungoverned individuals to achieve greatness and facilitate a free and safe society.

The other (form of anarchy), is one where one follows their base instincts -- like greed and a lust for vengeance -- while disregarding society at large. The fact that Edward (Kenway) follows this path for a majority of the story leads to the deaths of most of the people he cared for, though in the end he attempts to "redeem" himself -- his first step towards said redemption is joining the Assassin Order, reuniting with his family (both manifestations of rejoining society), and scaling down (or stopping) his piracy.

Many of the other pirates that Edward (Kenway) meets in the game -- especially the ones who practice the 2nd kind of anarchy -- meet their ends either dead, rotting in jail, or abandoned on an uninhabited island.

In the end, to me Edwards' story was that of enlightenment, he starts (and for most of the game continues to be) as a bad guy, but in the end he makes an attempt to redeem himself (an attempt which is none too successful).

I always felt that Assassin's Creed is a series that meditates heavily on Liberty -- AC2/Brotherhood were meditations on freedom from the church, and scientific progress; whereas AC3 (and seemingly Unity) focus on liberty through violence.

At the conclusion of Black Flag, all but a few of the Pirates are dead, it's a meditation on the end of (total) freedom, and (in a way continuing themes from AC3) a story about compromise, and the best ways to maintain liberty.

I know you will say I am reading way too much into a game -- but that's what literary criticism is all about. ^_^

People were complaining about the thing staying it the same and repeating itself over and over again, so they listen to us and give up something different, but people are never happy.

<< LINK REMOVED >> You forgot about how he killed multiple assassins and even started out killing one before becoming one himself. That's aside the fact from him being not too experienced either, on top of plotholes and uninteresting "twists" Then after a long list of grievances you have to factor in how bad the mulitplayer was with changes made etc and....and..now I just depressed myself.

Easy buy first day!" and know it to be a wonderful and polished experience when it comes to story, gameplay, mechanics, etc and yes even multiplayer which I personally love on it...or did love. Hopefully I can check in with this new creed but Im not holding my breath anymore. Only thing I am interested in from them is the new far cry and watch dogs. But I am speculating on all that now.

@zrex2metagor @Sohaim @AndyBear i did, i played all of the AC games except for the PSP ones, AC Black Flag is trash to me, pure trash, i could not hear Edward crying about money and his selfish reasons anymore, wheres the freaking assasin? that was a Assassins Creed game where the protagonist becomes a assasin in the END of THE GAME and the way that happens is not cool at all, the plot was worst than weak, the thing that won me in the AC series was the story, AC Black Flag should be named Pirates Creed:Hunt for Gold.

@zrex2metagor @Sun-Tzu-GE @Sohaim @AndyBear I have a simple question then zrex if you go for the story then why ignore the many holes four had? Also I can agree four had some of the best combat and visuals to date but all that is really flare. I'll admit the whole pirates theme was so lame to me. Hell I even joked with friends about Blackbeard apparently being the worlds worst Templar and the reason being why they chose to make Pirates Creed in the first place. But I did try to give it a honest try, I returned it after a good ways in. The game started out bad though, I mean you are supposed to be a regular guy. A pirate yes, but more or less not one that is really known. Just a normal shiphand with ambition.

Yet you meet and kill an assassin out of nowhere? Maybe he got lucky but still he shouldn't have been even remotely on even footing with the guy. On top of that later on without ANY training Edward is able to perform special and normal assassinations secret and held within the clan like its second nature when he is tested. On top of that just for fun they had him easily kill multiple other Assassins in a mission when he and the Templars he was running around with were ambushed. My mouth dropped. I mean SERIOUSLY UBISOFT?

Naturally at first when the assassin was met I'm thinking "Oh he is somewhat wounded but so is Edward just a bit. He is probably going to sustain him in hopes of surviving as a common goal. They will learn to trust each other, and then he will pass on the mantel to Edward upon passing from his wounds...that gives him a connection and mission. Cool, I can go behind that." But nope, I was far off...I cant ignore such horrid storytelling myself. But hey maybe we have different tastes, that much is pretty clear.

Ubisoft is giving me what I want, you dont like it? boo hoo, your loss, atleast you cant change it while I keep getting what I like.

<< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >><< LINK REMOVED >> No, I very specifically do care about all aspects of the AC storyline. And I thought that a lot of the stuff that was done in the modern day story of Black Flag was great. I also felt that the ending of the Desmond storyline was appropriate, and fit well into the greater theme of AC3.

Give us free roaming co-op like Watch Dogs, that would be damn fun. Co-op is a very good thing, keep it up Ubisoft.

No. They took some liberties with the historical events taking place in each game, but time travel in the Animus? Not that it's not possible, it's the Animus, not actual reality, but that would just prove that everything that happens in the Animus can't actually be taken seriously, and then why would Abstergo even bother anymore? No, if we're starting this debate and start explaining AC games, then we're the ones taking tha games seriously. The characters look nothing like Ezio or Altair or Edward. Plus, they obviously said the main character's name is Arno or something.
