LOS ANGELES--Earlier this week at Microsoft's E3 2011 media briefing BioWare confirmed rumors that Mass Effect 3 would adopt Kinect controls. Today, publisher Electronic Arts is speaking about the possibility of bringing the Mass Effect universe to another console, Nintendo's just-announced Wii U.

In an interview with GameTrailers, EA Games top man Frank Gibeau fielded fan questions about the publisher's library of titles, one of which asked if Mass Effect 3 was planned for the Wii U. Gibeau did not flatly reject the notion, instead saying a game set in the space-bound role-playing game series was possible.

"I can't say that we are going to do [Mass Effect 3] on the Wii U, but you can imagine what we could (emphasis added) do with that controller in the Mass Effect universe," he said. "It feels like it's a really nice fit. But we'll announce that when it's ready."

As for Mass Effect 3, it is due out for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 6, 2012. Players will once again take on the role of Commander Shepard, a hardened space marine who is now on the run from the shadowy pro-human organization Cerberus. To save Earth, Shepard must travel the galaxy trying to rally support from alien civilizations with varying degrees of sympathy.
