LOS ANGELES--One of Microsoft's big partner announcements during its 2011 Electronic Entertainment Expo was with Crysis creator Crytek. In a brief trailer that played during its press conference this morning, Microsoft officially announced Ryse, a game that first leaked alongside Halo 4 this morning.

Ryse will be Kinect-enabled.
Ryse will be Kinect-enabled.

As seen in the trailer, Ryse appears to be set in ancient Rome. More specifically, it appears as if Ryse focuses on the fall of Rome. With Crytek developing, it should come as no surprise that the game will feature brutal, Mature-rated combat.

Notably, Ryse will be Kinect-enabled. In the trailer, a human was shown making slashing and blocking gestures to control the gritty hand-to-hand melee combat onscreen.

Unfortunately, Microsoft did not indicate when Ryse will be available. Stay tuned to GameSpot for more information on Ryse as it becomes available. For more information, check out GameSpot's first impressions of Ryse from this year's E3.
