E3 2011: 3DS Mario Kart, Star Fox, Super Mario, Kid Icarus due this holiday

Nintendo announces upcoming 3D-enabled series entries are all due by the end of this year.

LOS ANGELES--Today during Nintendo's E3 2011 media briefing, the Japanese game giant talked at length about its 3DS efforts, culminating in announcements of release windows for Super Mario 3D, Star Fox 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising, and Mario Kart 3D.

First, Nintendo showed a new trailer for Mario Kart 3D, which displayed a "holiday 2011" release window for the kart racer. In addition to the date, the trailer showed new series additions, including hang-gliding karts, underwater racing, and big tire vehicles.

The Japanese game giant also dated Star Fox 3D for the 3DS, announcing it will be released sometime this September. Also during Nintendo's press presentation, the game giant showed a new trailer for Super Mario 3D and announced that it will be released "by the end of 2011."

At E3 2010, Nintendo announced Kid Icarus: Uprising. And at today's media briefing, the company showed a new trailer for the game, displaying three-on-three multiplayer matches. Kid Icarus: Uprising for the 3DS will ship "later this year."
