E3 2008: EA CEO confirms KOTOR MMO

Great move by bioware i think, ive always wanted a kotor mmo and here it is, just be patient. And hey, its bound to be good because its got no ties with SOE :D

For everyone complaining about Bioware...I doubt it's their fault. For those of you that played Sith Lords...and know how much cut content there is, that had nothing to do with Obsidian. Thank LucasArts for rushing production. I bet it is the same scenario here. Bioware will be developing it, but I'm willing to bet that the MMO idea came down from LucasArts, and I doubt any developing company would say no to the kind of money a Star Wars game/MMO is likely to generate.

If it were a true sequel Id think theyd call it exactly that, and not a 'sequel of sorts', Im sure theyd want to take advantage of your rabid fanaticism from the get go. But I still think you should continue flipping out. It's truly funny. You'd think we were here for the announcement that American Idol was cancelled forever at a national cheerleading competition. Tears, Screams, Screeches, and a buncha delusional teenage girls.

IF it is really kotor 3: 1. I don't want a kiddo ruining my game exp. 2. Kotor was great as it was. 3. I'll never gonna pay a monthly fee to play it.

Just because SWG was a piece of excrement doesn't mean Kotor MMORPG will be. The reason SWG failed is not because it was a Star Wars game, it's because it was a SOE game. So those of you that keep bringing up SWG need to stop and think on who to blame. I can't think of any other company I'd rather see give this a shot than Bioware. And just because there will be an MMORPG doesn't rule out the possibility of a KOTOR III title, although admittedly it's unlikely any time soon.

This the biggest crap and stupid thing ever to happen to such a good game.Let's be serious this is not a good idea.Kotor is Kotor and MMO is MMO.Two SEPARATE things.It will be a disaster.Just make KOTOR 3...continue the original game.If they want a Kotor MMO just make another story don't mess up the original one.

Hopefully they don't gimp the graphics for the "casual MMO middleaged housewife" crowd. Those kinds of people have no right to play KOTOR games. Still, this might actually be the first MMO I'm actually interested in playing...

Woah, I know there alot of MMORPGames been release for the past years but I never thought Bioware had the guts to make SW:KOTOR MMO. Since SWGalaxies been out and had tons of gameplay problem I would thought they stop making SW MMORPG. Yo you Bioware's!! better make the game better gameplay and storyline than WoW, LOTR,WarHammer,Everquest and the other lame wannabe MMO games!!! P.S hope yer guys still gonna make a SW:KOTOR games nomral gameplay!! I am still drug to the game X-D

I just hope is not as bad as Starwars Galaxy, Im a hard core MMO player on Lineage II, But I love KOTOR, I just hpe thet do it on the same spirit of KOTOR and I will give it a try.

This may not be KOTOR3, but KOTOR3 is not in the works at this time regardless. I hate to say it but there most surely will be a monthly fee. You get what you pay for. Bioware has made some great games but this just seems like a bad move. Leaving an established fanbase and moving into the already cluttered genre of MMOs just spells trouble. I'd bet they would sell more copies if they were making KOTOR3 rather than an MMO.

This doesn't actually come out and say that this MMO is KOTOR 3. All it really says is that there will be an MMO based on KOTOR. Which means that they might still be making Kotor 3 as well.

I think that Bioware will do a great job with this and it will be one of the greatest MMOs of all time. Sorry to be melodramatic, but honoeslty I think this will be great. But if it costs money every month I will be disappointed, big time.

it just seems strange that bioware would suddenly focus on MMO, i mean both KOTOR 1 and 2 were awesome, i suspect they will lose a lot of support this way and should just stick with a real sequel instead of trying to replicate WOW and make a money making machine

A MMO.... my life is over, my life is over....... arhhh!!!! I have waited for so long and then they give me a cheap MMO! I wanted a sequel!

I think most of KotOR's fans have been anticipating a great Bioware-developed sequel. An MMO is no sequel... its a massive waste of time and money. Shame on Bioware for this decision. They can still make it up with a real single-player installment. Oh well, best to ignore this one and hope that Dragon Age pulls it off!

dam i loved the first 2 and i really hate mmo how will i decide? this is crap why rap the series of it's brilliance by removing the capability to become the most powerful jedi around. god i am pissed

So this is what theyre going to do with the 3rd installment of KOTOR. what the f**k is bioware doing i ask myself. is this it? if you ask me, this is how the end of a story begins.

An MMO? Really? I really wish companies would stop trying to cash in on the MMO trend. I'd much prefer if they took the polish of KOTOR 1 and the enhanced gameplay/influence system of TSL and made an amazing single-player RPG. I swore off MMO's long ago, so I sadly will not be playing this installment of the series.

I just don't see a need to alienate a consumer base. I don't play MMORPGs. No offense to anyone out there, but there's a lot of stupid people out there that I;d rather not have as a part of my gaming experience. If I do something stupid in a game and die, I know who to blame. If someone else ruins it for me, I just wasted $60 to let someone else play my game for me. Bring back the single-player experience, Bioware!

A sequel of sorts eh? Here's to hoping that they release a true Kotor sequel and not just this MMO, I am not holding my breath though, after all why just charge gamers $50-$60 once when you when you can bleed them for an additional $10-$15 a month with an MMO.

After SOE did a royal FUBAR on SWG, I am glad to see someone picked up the need to have a quality MMO-RPG based on the Star Wars Universe. I look forward to playing this game.

This is very risky. If this is KOTOR 3 then it could be screwy as an MMO. If it is just an MMO based in the KOTOR era, it could be good but we'll have to wait even longer for KOTOR 3. I liked it as a single player game. It was good before. Why fix it if it isn't broken? I don't about this...

Id have to say i really wanted a MMO version of this but i wanted it after they finished the series, what will they do? Revan being located by 20000 players? its probably going to flop or be rather small like most of the MMOs

Wow... that made my day realy good. umm maniac060 you may wana check the title of the article, not getting on you but they refer to KoToR many times in the article. I've gota say Bioware like blizzard and Lionhead haven't realy let me down in the past so I'll give them the benifit of the doubt and rally behind them.

It doesn't say anywhere in this article that it's going to be based on the KOTOR universe. It just says they partnered with Lucas Arts.

We all know how good Bioware is, but WHAT THE HECK? An MMO? The story isn't even finished that is a terrible idea? What, are there gonna be 20,000 Revans running around? There is no way to finish the story!

Why does everyone think turning fun games featuring more than one character into an MMO is a good idea? As fun as this game will probably be, it's likely many KOTOR won't touch it.

Of coarse! They confirm this game once I finally get my hands on Star Wars Galaxies. Which is not dead! And it does not suck like alot of people say. I've been playing it for almost 3 days straight. Yesterday, I had nothing to do (plus I didnt have the gas money to drive into town to go see anyone). So, I played Galaxies from like 9 in the morning, till 2 in the morning. And that was after going to bed at 4 in the morning the day before from playing it for 8 hours straight. The game does not suck. There is just so much to do!

I'm happy and sad at the same time...

This has been an awesome franchise so far. So hopefully with EA's people behind this one it wont disappoint. I've always thought that a star wars mmo would be an awsome rpg. Dont see how they can mess this one up.
