EA Games has announced Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island, its new third-person action adventure game for the PS2, the Xbox, and the PC. The game will have two major components: a turn-based strategic mode that will let players plan their movements and an action mode that will let players fight battles in real time.
The game will take place in an alternate reality in which the Soviet Union won the Cold War and later invaded the US. Players will play as a normal US citizen from New York who gets swept up into an organized resistance unit that secretly gathers in Manhattan. Over the course of the game, players will rise through the ranks of the resistance army and must eventually liberate New York City.
Freedom: The Battle for Liberty Island is currently scheduled for release this fall for the PlayStation 2 and the Xbox. The PC version is scheduled for release this winter.
