E3 2002: Brute Force preshow report

Microsoft's squad-based shooter will be on display at this year's E3.

Comments

The highly anticipated action game Brute Force will be on display in Microsoft's booth at E3. In the game, you will be able to take control of one of four characters--a sniper, an assault trooper, a scout, or a feral alien. However, over the course of each mission, you can switch in between characters on the fly if you need a particular character's expertise, and there appear to be multiple solutions for any problem that arises. The game will feature a full six-world single-player campaign as well as co-op and multiplayer deathmatch support for four players. In co-op mode, you can decide which characters you use to jump in and out of the game, which can ultimately affect your strategy. In addition, each character's skills will improve as you continually use them while playing through the game.

As you might expect, there are plenty of weapons and equipment in the game, ranging from miniguns, sonic cannons, and stealth suits to sniper rifles and psychic blasts. Each weapon will have either advantages or disadvantages against certain types of enemies. We'll have more on Brute Force soon.
