German game publisher JoWood will demonstrate AquaNox 2: Revelation, its upcoming underwater action game, at the 2002 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles. The game is a follow-up to AquaNox, which was created by Massive Development and released in November 2001.

AquaNox 2: Revelation is set in the same futuristic underwater world as its predecessor. In the new game, though, you'll assume the role of William Drake, a young freighter pilot on a quest to uncover the legendary treasure of a mysterious ancestor. On his journey, Drake encounters greed, ruthlessness, and hatred, but also unexpected help. You'll become a member of a group of eight mercenaries thrown together in a claustrophobic submarine. The game will take place in and around a series of underwater cities, and you'll have to be on the lookout, since unknown enemies may be lurking behind every corner. AquaNox 2 will combine fast-paced underwater dogfights, careful tactical thinking, and a variety of colorful characters.

AquaNox 2: Revelation is scheduled for release near the end of the year. We've posted some screenshots in the gallery above that show off some of the game's detailed environments and submarine models, and we'll post more information about the game as it becomes available.
