E3 2001: Yuri's Revenge MIA

Westwood's expansion pack for Command & Conquer Red Alert 2 is not on the show floor.

Notably missing from the show floor is Westwood's expansion pack to Red Alert 2, Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge. The game was first announced in April of this year, and at the time of its unveiling, Westwood was hoping to have the latest build of the add-on behind closed doors at EA's booth during E3. During our scheduled appointment with Westwood, however, we noted its absence. A Westwood official said that bringing Yuri's Revenge to E3 would have cost the development valuable time, and the company would rather the game release on time than risk delaying it by devoting resources to showcase it at the expo.

Command & Conquer Yuri's Revenge adds a third faction to Red Alert 2. This new side is composed of a group of mind-controlled and genetically enhanced soldiers under the leadership of Yuri, the Soviet-psychic-advisor-turned-rogue-warrior. The game will feature seven new single-player missions for the Allied side and seven more for the Soviet sides, and it will let you play as the Yuri faction in the multiplayer mode, which has 10 cooperative campaign maps. Expect to see this game on store shelves by October of this year.
