E3 2001 Preshow Report: Capcom announces Breath of Fire GBA

Capcom has confirmed that the GBA remake of Breath of Fire, its 1994 SNES RPG, will see a stateside release. The game will be virtually identical to the SNES version, save for a handful of new environments, a refined gameplay system, and player-to-player item trading via a link cable. Breath of Fire casts players as Ryu, a young man with the ability to turn into a dragon. In his battle against the foul Dark Dragons, Ryu enlists the aid of eight companions, including a girl with wings, a mole man, and snake woman.

Breath of Fire is set for release in September.
